“Good hotel with good location”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

I've stayed here a few years ago and enjoyed the stay. I have to say that now I'm seeing some accents could use a little "sprucing up", for example, the bathroom fixtures and the room desk are showing the wear and tear. However, we had a clean room and had a fine sleep. Didn't stay long, room might get cramped if you're planning a stay of more than a few days. Not particularly spacious. Convenient location. Our quick stay was quite satisfactory.

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. Our suites are 400 square feet with french doors separating the living area from the bedroom. We do have larger suites available for room upgrades for guests looking for more space.

My wife and I stayed for two nights during a recent trip to Chicago and we were very pleased with this hotel. The location was excellent as it's right on the Magnificent Mile so walking to all of the stores, restaurants, etc. is absolutely no problem. The staff at this hotel was first-rate and everyone that we encountered was extremely friendly and professional. The rooms are all suites and very comfortable and most, if not all, come with great views of the city. You will not go wrong if you decide to stay here. We'll definitely be back.

This was our first trip to Chicago, so we wanted a hotel in a great location, near restaurants and shopping, the loop and "the red line" train because we had tickets to a Cubs game. It met all of these requirements, however, the one thing we didn't know was it's proximity to a nearby hospital. We wish we had known about that so that we would have requested a room along the back of the hotel instead of facing Michigan Avenue because of the frequency of ambulances racing down the street with sirens blazing at all hours of the day and night. Also we had an adjoining room (not requested) and once someone checked into that room, we could hear their conversation through the walls. This hotel is one of only a few that has suites instead of just "a bed in a room" so that was why we chose it, and it was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful, I just wish we had a quieter stay.

Room Tip: Request a room in the back of the hotel because the side facing Michigan Avenue is near a hospital a...

We're sorry that you experience so much noise during your stay. All hotels along Michigan Avenue do get ambulance traffic, but we're happy to accommodate a room change if our occupancy allows. If we can't accommodate a room change, we are happy to provide earplugs if you request. We hope that you will still consider staying with us again next time you are in Chicago.

Great place to stay. Within walking distance to most attractions in Chicago. We got to Chicago at 7am and could not check in till 3 but they stored our bags in a safe place and helped us get on our way. We went and had a great breakfast and walked around Chicago for hours. Staff is helpful as they can be and always willing to answer any questions. I highly reccommend staying there if you go. The location was fantastic we could walk to the Bean, Lake Michigan, museums, Lolla, all restaurants and shopping. Kinda far from the Cubs... but not far from the L that will get ya there!!!

Room Tip: We got a corner room (great view)!

The room is outdated but the beds were comfortable and it was relatively quite. The room service menu was good. The staff was super nice. It's in a great location along Michigan Ave. Parking is really expensive, $52 valet only, if you need it but there's a garage right next door.

If I had paid the rack rate instead of the sweet deal from hotwire, I probably would be disappointed in my stay at the Omni. But when I factor in the very good rate, plus the free wi-fi and complimentary room service beverages the Omni is a good value.

The location is close to all the shopping and businesses along Michigan Avenue. It is far enough down on Michigan that if you need to go into the Loop it is a quick taxi ride.

From the valet to bell hops, I was impressed with the staff. But the front desk seems a little immature. After my first night of a 4 night stay I complained about the bed. It was so uncomfortable that I could barely move. When I called down to the front desk it was as if they had no idea how to handle the situation. Eventually I was transferred to another room but there was no acknowledgement of apologies for the awful discomfort I experienced on my first night there.

In addition to the free wifi, another perk is complimentary beverage service delivered in the morning. Both of these were very important to me. But I was mildly disappointed with the inconsistency of the room service. There were two of us and one morning we only got one pot of hot water for the tea instead of two. Another morning we did not get cream as requested. But this is minor in the scheme of things and considering that it was complimentary, I would never complain about it.

The rooms are spacious but very dated. There are few outlets around. The decor is old and warn and not very comfortable. The lighting is poor and the rooms are dim.

In my first room I had a view of the city facing west. The second room butted up against a building and there was a view of the mechanical in the other building. A depressing view.

Hotwire had the Omni listed as a four & half star hotel. I think that a four is more appropriate. If the decor were updated it would be even better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing East and above the 12th floor.

We want to apologize for any lack of empathy from our front desk staff regarding the bed. We're glad that a room change to a different bed was able to alleviate your back pain. Our customers' comfort is our goal for every guest. As far as the dim lighting is concerned, we're happy to provide additional floor lamps if your room is too dark.

The hotel is good but not great. If you are looking for luxury this hotel will be a let down. The room are showing some wear and tear and they are more on par with Embassy suites with a $350.00 room rate.

The customer service is very good as well as the hotel location. We did order room service coffee and it was delivered within 20 minutes which was very nice.
