We booked the Monaco through Hotwire and got an excellent rate. We were attending a theatre event and only stayed one night but we very impressed with the hotel. The staff was very friendly and gave us helpful information. The room was very clean, the beds extremely comfortable, and the room came with fun animal print robes.
We enjoyed the free wine in the lobby in the evening from 5 to 6 PM but slept too late to take advantage of the free coffee and tea the next morning. The hotel was located within walking distance to many downtown attractions. We enjoyed the Irish bar across the street, too. I would definitely consider staying again when I visit Chicago again.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view of the river.

Wow! This place is amazing. The entire staff was as helpful as could be, the rooms are AMAZING, the lobby- from morning hot chocolate and coffee to afternoon wine, was exceptional. There was nothing we could have needed or wanted that they did not provide. The window seats overlooking the river are worth the rooms alone, but don't forget to ask for your companion goldfish- he really makes the trip! I travel to Chicago fairly often and will never stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: I have allergies and they allow dogs, so I just requested an upper level room because they only allo...

We stayed 5 nights at the Monaco with our 3 grown up sons, the rooms were spotless and the beds so comfy, the continental breakfast with waiter service was great and kept us going well into the afternoon, the location was perfect and we managed to see all Chicago sights,
The staff were extremely helpful and polite, nothing was to much trouble and A special thanks to Nick whom we had been in contact with prior to our arrival, who sent us some wonderful gifts and a personal message to welcome us even going to the trouble of finding information about the village in England we live in. Wonderful hotel and beautiful city.

Room Tip: Make sure you find out about public transport before you go

Recently stayed at Hotel Monaco-- my husband, thirteen year old twins and I. The hotel was conveniently located. Bus and metro were easy to access. We had a lovely room with window seats overlooking the river. My kids spent most of their time in the room perched there. Hotel was spotless. Beds were comfortable. Only drawback was that we found it necessary to walk a bit to go to dinner. There were not many restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. If I were to return to Chicago I would definitely go to the Monaco. The hotel felt luxurious, but the price was extremely affordable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with window seats overlooking the river.

Cynthia,
I'm so glad the whole family was able to enjoy everything from the location to the awesome window seats we have. It's awesome to hear you found the great value too, even if the restaurants you might have been eager to go to were a brief walk. Did you get to try our lovely restuarant, South Water Kitchen?

This hotel had a fantastic boutique feel and little surprises at every turn. They had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The leopard print robes were hilarious. If you want free wii, you can become a member of Kimpton Hotels for free and instant access. The location was picturesque and located just minutes walk from the State/Lake metro stop. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a fun, city vacation.

Chose this hotel based on reviews and it was the perfect choice. My sister and I were doing a sister's vacation and we thoroughly enjoyed our six night stay. The staff was excellent along with their right-on suggestions. We enjoyed great weather in Chicago which helped in touring. We could walk almost everywhere and also took the train to Wrigley Field which was so easy. There were plenty of convenient restaurants and also places to grab a quick breakfast. We did also eat at hotel restaurant which was very good. Do not hesitate to book and really get to enjoy the city. Location is everything!

I just loved the look and feel of this hotel. The rooms and lobby have great "50s Mod" vibe. Although that could lend itself to gaudy - it works. The staff is professional and attentive. Everything is clean and everyone responsive.

This was my first stay at a Kimpton and thus I was totally unaware of their evening wine tastings. What a great touch. Besides the wine, they also offer hors d'oeuvre and live music. What this period turns into is basically a social hour for people staying in the hotel. This enabled us to meet some fantastic people who we ended up spending real time with.

Great hotel - don't hesitate to stay here.
