Avoid the ticket price for the observation deck and instead enjoy a nicely crafted cocktail and amazing views in the Signature Room on the 96th floor. The cocktail was perfectly prepared but be prepared for big city pricing. I thought the experience of an afternoon shopping cocktail and amazing views well worth the price. My husband and I scored a table directly in front of the window and did not feel rushed while enjoying our beverage. Don't miss the ladies restroom on the same floor. Floor to ceiling windows offer the same incredible view. You'll appreciate that view while waiting your turn in the small space. Overall very happy to have followed previous reviewers in visiting the 96th floor. Note: be prepared to wait for the elevator and be prepared for somewhat cramped spacing in the elevator. I'm happy to note they are managed by attendants who do a good job with crowd control. I wouldn't hesitate to return in future.

Having previously visited the Willis Tower the views from the John Hancock Center are better. The views across the city and the lake shoreline are amazing. The exhibits on show outlining the history of the development within the city are very interesting to read and give a clear outline as to the history of the tower and the planning. Well worth the visit.

We skipped the offered tour and visited the Signature Room on the 96th floor of the Hancock Center. The drinks were pricey but imaginative. The view at dusk is fabulous. The trip to the Ladies Room reveals an entire glass wall with a better view than in the bar.....sorry guys...

Gosh, the reviews for this attraction zip in so quickly it makes one wonder ... will anyone read mine? Should they, I'd recommend Signatures on The 95th for a drink; alcoholic or not. Affordable for those still left in the middle class.

My mantra continues to be -- dress for success. A tie and sport coat and a friendly posturing with the assigner of seating will get you a front row window table. Works every time. Three in our party got the table, got great service, cold beer, correct temp of rather good bottle of Russian River Pinot - later, a antipasto. That kept us in good stead from one hour before sunset til after the lights came on all around - that toddling town.

A real international crowd. Brits, Chinese, a small family from Rome. Vini Veni Vechi or something like that @ 95 floors above Lake Michigan. I was mesmerized at the life of a recluse spider constructing her web at that altitude.

Entertainment is self induced with heights but heightened further by the antics of TV station helicopters bobbing up and down the sides of the building. Great stuff.

Earlier in the day, I chatted up a unformed Chicago police sergeant who for years had been the LAW on North Michigan Avenue. She and I reflected on the property that held the John Hancock building. It was for year and years, just a formal grassy patch with a formidable sign touting the benefits of drinking Johnny Walker scotch. Benefits now available at a higher level.

We quietly agreed - she remaining politically correct - The Hancock experience was better than the Willis nee: Sears Tower.

Four stars .. since I was restricted from the Ladies room. I Love Chicago.
