We wanted to do the Sears Tower tour, but the wait was ridiculous and the price was higher to boot. Locals recommended the Hancock Observatory and it has better views of Lake Michigan than the Sears Tower. The wait was much shorter and the price lower as well. They even have a coffee bistro and snack shop at the observatory.

As most travelers to Chicago would think, we thought we had to go to the Willis Tower. But no way...absolutely no way...would I wait two hours up there to step out on the sky deck. So not worth it. So we headed north to Hancock. We were pleased to purchase two tickets and have no wait at all. We were on top in a couple of minutes. The view from all four sides was spectacular. The open air section had a screen enclosure, so you could feel the wind, but you also felt safe. There was a café and a fun photo op where you could pretend to be a window washer. We spent the two hours we saved shopping the Magnificent Mile!

This was a great view of the city! There was no line at all to get up and we could spend a lot of time browsing around which was great!
The windows were clean except for a few and the touchscreens that told you what buildings were was a perfect tour guide!

While the bar on the 96th floor is free to go to, you spend a bit on cocktails. However, it's a great way to spend a sunset. Just get there before the crowds.

While in Chicago its a must see!! Went early in the morning , there was no lines. Its amazing how fast you get up there. It was a clear beautiful day, the views are spectacular. You can see for miles!! The view is better than the Willlis tower. I highly recommend it while visiting Chicago!!
