A must see if in Chicago and worth the line up. Get there for sunset and the views are amazing. The view will depend on what area you are sitting in but it's free to go up and take a look so worth the effort.

My partner and I met some friends here one evening. We did not eat but had a couple of drinks. It was not too expensive and the view was amazing. Well worth a vist.

We make this part of every visit to the city. Our son lives close and it always a delight to have him point out attractions in the area

We visited the John Hanncock while in Chicago in December. We arrived around 8pm to see the city at night. I was impressed with the short lines and relatively smaller amounts of people milling about. We began our visit by taking the free audial tour. The tour was great, it really gave us a good feel for the city, its layout, its history, and all its many attractions. Not many people seemed to take advantage of the tour, but it is worth the time to know what you are looking at! And, it is on an IPod so you can always stop a segment if you tire of it and move on.

The Views were outstanding. The deck truly is 360 degrees and you can see the lake, as well as the mag mile, Willis Tower, and most other major attractions. While it is not the tallest building, you are still looking down on most other buildings and its location affords it some truly outstanding views!

Now to the bad part... my husband and I are pretty serious about our photography. We both have DSLRs and like to use them. There is a no tripod rule, but I suspect that if you are discreet you can get away with a short one. ;) However, that may not help much as they have lights shining everywhere causing lots of glare and reflections. There is not a filter that can combat all that, at least not at night. We did attempt to hold up our coats to block the light, however that gets tiring. It was also challenging to shoot due to all the smudges and other people using flashes. But, we anticipated most of that.

All in all, I do recommend a visit--the views are wonderful and the tour is great. But, if photography is on your mind, beware of the issues!
