“Great shopping and stunning architecture”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

Beats Fifth Avenue in New York. There is as good a selection of stores and the architecture is more spectacular. There are always new views to marvel at.

“What 5th Avenue Used To Be”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

The "Magnificent Mile" must have more stores per block than any other city in the US. We are native New Yorkers and even midtown Manhattan doesn't manage to pack in this much "stuff". There are several buildings with internal malls so look carefully.

The architecture of many of the buildings is likewise magnificent. Don't miss the stones embedded in the Chicago Tribune's facade or the Wrigley Building.

“World Class”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

This reviewer has shopped on the Champs Elyees in Paris and the Via Veneto in Rome. When all is said and done, nor thing compares to the North Michigan Avenue experience. The scenery, the mix of new Chicago architecture with land marks like the Water Tower, the to notch and designer retail, and the pure beauty of the Avenue all combine to a once in a lifetime great experience.

Tips * start at the Michigan Avenue Bridge and work your way north, past the Wrigley Building, the Tribune Tower, the Disney Store, Crate and Barrel and the Apple Store. End at the Drake Hotel with Bookbinder Soup in the historic Cape Cod Room.
* In the Fall, Winter and Spring bring a wind breaker or rain coat. Lake Michigan is just 4 blocks away and the winds can be strong and brisk.

An architectural gem. Daytime free concerts in the dome room. Old Chicago library beautifully preserved. Right across from Milennium park. This is a must see.
