This is a nice, safe area to walk, shop, and eat. I don't know that I would consider it a must-see for tourists unless you want to shop, because there are plenty of great restaurants throughout downtown.

Even if one is just window shopping, Michigan avenue is a fun place to do it at. Numerous shops and restaurants to go into.

This is Chicago's premier shopping street (think Oxford Street in London ) and as such contains some very swanky upscale shops. A bit out of my reach cost-wise in most cases but still very interesting to look around. There are also quite a lot of smaller tourist oriented shops along the way too. It would be a shame to visit the city and not walk along this street.

Chicago is a cleaner friendlier NYC. I fell in love with it in the first hour I was there because everyone is helpful. Michigan Ave has all of the great stores on 5th Ave without the attitude

The Magnificent Mile in Michigan Ave certainly lives up to it's name with fantastic shopping and dining experiences on every corner, whether you are a high end shopper or a bargain hunter.
