Beautiful Chicago building. It's Chicago at it's best, enjoy the architecture while shopping the Mag Mile!

“Really cool how they used the artifacts”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

The base of tribune tower incorporated artifacts from all sorts of locations around the world - from the Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia to the Bunker Hill Monument in Boston. We came upon this while walking by and had a fun 15 minutes wandering through the items in the wall and thinking about past and future trips.

“The exterior has some unusual artifacts in the walls”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Pieces of famous buildings and structures are mounted in the exterior walls. It is across from the Wrigley Building on Michigan Avenue, just north of the Chicago River. A great place to start walking the Magnificent Mile of Michigan Avenue

“Unexpectedly Interesting”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

Not on our list of stops originally, but we learned from a local that pieces of stone from other places are worked into the front and sides of the building. Each piece of stone had a stone plaque underneath stating where it was from. We were told that the designer of the building thought it was important to take something home with you whenever you travel and he encouraged his staff to think similarly....and they all collected chunks of stone and marble from famous buildings around the world. The main lobby is also very beautiful, ornate, old fashioned design and worth a look. There's also a small gift shop with a nice variety of Chicago souveniers.

“Delightful idea!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Got some delicious tea and pastries from Argo Tea in the lobby of the Tower, and then sat in the courtyard admiring the pieces of rock/sculpture imbedded in the Tower from all over the world. Very unique experience!
