We visited The Field Museum in early April and were not disappointed. I was completely unprepared for the main space within the museum: awesome. I really appreciated the museum honoring our membership at the science museum in our city and essentially getting into the museum free; that allowed us to enjoy a couple amenities that we would have otherwise not enjoyed. My boys (5 and 6) did not lose interest in the evolution exhibit which was very well done. Sure everyone wants to see the dinosaurs but the museum is to be commended for keeping easily distracted children interested and in turn allowing parents to enjoy the show. Sue was an excellent exhibit and well done. The docents we met were great. Paid staff were great. Food in the lobby was good, even the coffee. Overall great experience. I wish the museum good luck in addressing its current financial troubles.

A great place to see some amazing artifacts! The dinosaur exhibit was our main reason for visiting and it did not disappoint! "Sue" the T-Rex is simply amazing as is all of the dinosaur fossils on display. The hands-on approach to the museum kept the kids engaged and entertained.
The animals all over on display were great as well!
The shows and movies are worth the extra costs.
The museum has been kept up so well and is a treasure in Chicago!

Sue, The Field Museum's dinosaur, is probably the best known attraction at the museum. It has a fascinating history and should be seen but there is so much more to see. The blockbuster exhibitions are always wonderful but the permanent exhibits are compelling and very educational.
There is a great restaurant with a wonderful view of the city and terrific gift shops everywhere.

The Field Museum has something for everyone. We watched a 3D movie, saw a full size skeleton of a dinosaur, browsed through informative displays on everything from rock formations to DNA. There is much to see and you can view everything at your own pace. They also have a very nice selection of food in their on-site cafe. You can take some very nice pictures of the Chicago skyline from the surrounding park. We purchased the Chicago City Pass which also allowed VIP access to other locations including the Sky Deck in Willis Tower. Well worth the money. Make sure you take advantage of the free coat check when you arrive.

First of all, the building itself is enormous, full of light and perfect to house Sue, the giant and beautiful T-Rex, and two giant elephants that look like they're ready to run out the door. There was lots of video information and interactive screens everywhere. We really enjoyed seeing the open laboratories where they were working on the fossils themselves.
The rooms were filled with so many different species of dinosaurs it was amazing to behold how huge these creatures really were.
