On a recent visit to Chicago, we decided to go to the Field Museum. I hadn't been there for years, since the kids were young actually, and my friend from Poland had never been and loves to visit museums. We enjoyed the exhibits and the T Rex show. I discovered that museums are a great place to learn and teach English. For example, when you see a leopard, and then teach someone that speaks English as a second language the saying "You can't take the spots off of a leopard"... it really hits home.

This is a great place for young and old alike, and worth the trip. There are many taxis available to get back to downtown.

Dramatic lobby, take your time at this grand museum.
It has a vast collection from gems and minerals to huge mammoths and of course the most famous inhabitant: Sue the T. Rex.

some interesting exhibits, but also a lot of boring ones; probably better off with basic package

Despite visiting Chicago multiple times, I had never been to the Field and was not sure what to expect.
We were blown away. There were SO many things to see. I would plan to spend the day there. Despite it being the weekend, it was not busy (or maybe it just appeared that way as the exhibits are separated).
It is not necessarily for young children unless they have an interest in the specific exhibits. There are not a ton of hands on or sensory stimulating things for young ages. However, for adults, this (for me) tops the other museums in Chicago. The things you see at the Field are things you would not see at most other museums in other cities.
I would recommend getting a map and making a plan to explore the museum, as we just walked around randomly and I think we missed some things.
