Bought tickets online and so glad! Arrived at 9;00 on Friday to huge line that we got to skip! Nice employee guide at entrance gave us free pass to stingray touch. Go early and go downstairs to stingray and jellies first before crowds of young kids arrive. By 10:30 it was very crowded. Jellies exhibit is great and the rest pretty enjoyable. need about 3 hours there. lots of outdoor areas for eating so can bring snacks or lunch if want. Stayed at Essex inn so rode free shuttle there. Took $7 cab ride for 4 to Lou Molinaros on state street near museum for excellent Chicago Pizza. Then walked to hotel and caught free shuttle at 1:00 to Wendella boat tour.

The general admission ticket is very basic. If you're looking for a great aquarium experience, spend the extra money and get a ticket that allows you to see the entire aquarium. I have visited the aquarium a handful of times while on vacation to Chicago and this was my first time doing general admission (you only get to see one floor of the aquarium which is very basic).

IF you do decide to just do general admission you will not be able to buy it online. The lines to get in to buy your ticket during the summer can be hours long and is outside. If you have kids in strollers with you, go to the right side of the aquarium to the stroller entrance- it will save you a bunch of time!

Not for us. Went to see the sea animals but spent most of time waiting in line at the cafeteria When we finialy got to the show it had more to do with a dog:/ I love dog, but I have a dog at home. And when they finialy got to the dolphins it was just avrage. Save your money and go to Sea World much better. We loved Chicago.

I would recommend everyone visit here at least once, it is interesting and fun for the whole family. My kids loved all the hands on exihibits especially. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing i would avoid is the on site restaurant it is not very kid friendly and is quite high.

Shedd is a good aquarium. No doubts about that one. The staff is very knowledgeable and every helpful. However, in comparison to the best aquariums in the business, Shedd falls short. There is only 1 show and that doesn't cut it.

And we went on a Saturday. Thank God for the Chicago City pass - we waited only 45 mins to get inside. If not, we would have to wait for at least 2 hours. That's not acceptable at all.
