Owner description: Chicago's breath-taking National Landmark Theatre hosts concerts, comedians, theatrical productions and special events every year. The 3,600 seat auditorium is seven stories high, and the vertical "C-H-I-C-A-G-O," sign is one of the few such signs in existence today. A symbol of State Street and Chicago, the marquee is a landmark in itself, as is the Wurlitzer pipe organ. Patrons can also go behind-the-scenes on their educational venue tour, which runs a few times a week.

I was on a visit to Chicago and visited this theater to watch George Benson live!
Keeping the brilliance of the performance aside- which of course left me speechless- the theatre itself is very grand.
The architecture is stunning with elaborate roof murals etc
The acoustics are beautiful and so is the administration of the theater.
Alcoholic beverages are available on sale in the theater which can add to the attraction of the place.

The Chicago Theatre tour is definitely worth an hour or two of your visit to Chicago! The theatre's history, changing design aesthetics, and a loooong list of performers all add to this informative tour that takes you to various seating levels, on stage, back-stage, and even in to the dressing room, as you pass through a hallway filled with famous signatures and comments. Definitely have your camera ready if you like interior design. There is plenty to see in this grand, old building.

It is totally worth doing a behind the scenes tour. The House Manager will regale you with stories about various talents who have performed here, famous people who regularly come and watch shows as he takes you on the tour back stage, on stage and into many nooks and crannies. We loved being able to ham it up on stage and take a few photos. The art work that has been done by various performers over the years, in the stair well, is totally worth spending time viewing. There are some hilarious pictures and comments. The stories told were fabulous and I'd go back again just to hear some more.

This behind the scenes tour of the beautiful Chicago Theater is a must! The tour is given by the House Manager who has wonderful stories to share and an obvious love for his job and this amazing theater. You get to see backstage, onstage, just about everywhere! You walk through the famous hallway of signatures of the many performers to grace the stage there. You can sit in the dressing room and walk on the stage. But again, my favorite part of the tour is the House Manager and his many delightful stories about the talent who have performed there. I could have listened to him for hours!
