We were told we'd enjoy the Art Institute even though we're not that into art. Wrong! Though there were some beautiful pieces, we'd just as soon look at them in a book that provided some background information. And the modern art was a joke. The story of the Emperor's New Clothes came to mind a we overheard patrons expound on a totally white white canvas, a totally blue canvas, a canvas of symmetrical stripes, and it only got worse. The photography section had an area that was pure porn. We did enjoy the miniatures section--it was like touring period homes without all the walking. The layout of the building was very confusing, the map was very difficult to decipher, and the many employees scattered throughout acted as if giving directions was beneath them.
