First, we admit we have a real interest in art (in all its forms) and have had the good fortune and privilege to visit the major art museums around the world as part of our travel for work and holidays. The Art Institute of Chicago is a world class art museum and while may be a pace or two behind the size and depth of collections at the Metropolitan in New York or the Louvre, it has a very serious display of a wide range of art that will add to the experience of the most seasoned art connoisseur. But it also has real delights for the most casual observer of the arts and should absolutely be part of any visit to Chicago. While a long visit is required to really see the museum, it has many visual delights that can be enjoyed in an hour or two.
