My wife and I recently visited this museum and had an excellent time. While the museum is known for works like the boring American Gothic, and famous park scene A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, the real star of the museum was the impressionist wing featuring Toulouse, Manet, Van Gogh, and Monet. This wing made the whole museum for me. They also have a very nice selection of renaissance work from Del Greco and Peter Paul Rubins. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Our only disappointment was that one of the pieces we wanted to see was on loan. Of course, we still were able to see so many amazing things - it was a real treat. We particularly enjoyed the rebuilt Chicago exchange. We also enjoyed a nice lunch at the cafe they had on site.

Went to one of the Saturday evening special admission events. It was a great exhibit, and other patrons were quite festive with "Flowers in your Hair". It wasn't crowded, and was a very pleasant experience. I attended alone, but it would have been even more fun to have a glass of wine with friends there beforehand.

We spent the afternoon at the Art Institute and enjoyed the various works of art. The building is beautiful and there is a lovely park to the south of it where you can rest your feet after walking the massive museum.

I love art! But my two favorite artists are Georges Seurat and Edvard Munch, so I'm a happy camper. No Munch, but got to see the Seurat that painting that I've always wanted to see. Personal stuff out of the way, there is so much to see. More of a museum than an anything else. Amazing, amazing, amazing! Artifacts from early BC on different continents to sculptures, and artworks of recent. Well worth the ticket of admission. Depending on who you are, it will take you at least 1 and 1/2 hours to get through the tour.
