“Great hotel in a great location”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights and would highly recommend this hotel.
Walking distance to the shopping areas and central for everything else we wanted to do
The staff were all very helpful and polite, room service had excellent quality food, was really quick and reasonably priced. Spa good but quite pricey

Stayed here at the beginning of July and have never slept so well in a hotel bed before! I want to knw what kind of mattresses they have here and purchase one for my hoe! Loved the location and it is within walking distance to everything. The mini-fridge operates on an honour system so you could take all of their beverages out and put your own items in it. Fancy coffee maker allowed us to have good coffee in the morning. We were there on a weekend and had read previous reviews about the hotel and some rooms being noisy due to the rooftop bar Vertigo. We emailed the hotel ahead of time and asked for a quiet room and the hotel accommodated us which we were thankful for as when we returned Friday and Saturday nights the elevators were busy with people going to the bar. One complaint we had was that you could hear noise from the hallway such as doors opening and closing late at night, however we would stay at this hotel again for the deal we got. Joe Traders is around the corner.

The Dana hotel is excellent with good support staff, especially at the front door. It does have one of the new style bathrooms which means if you chose you can give a show to your partner when you are taking a shower. At least there is a curtain if you want privacy. The rooms were super clean and I actually liked the shower, but there is no bath. The rooftop bar is a bit freaky as both nights they shut early because of drunks. The rooms have Kcups and room in the fridge for your own champagne. The bed is insanely comfortable. Ask the staff for advice, because everyplace they recommended was great. The Italian up the road is sublime. It's easy to get to major attractions and quite frankly the noise was under what I would expect in a busy city. I would definitely go back, but I keep the curtain on the bathroom closed.

I have been visiting Chicago for many years and for some reason I have never stayed at the Dana. Boy, was I missing out!! The location, in my opinion, is ideal. It's a short couple of blocks from Michigan Ave & Rush St and is conveniently located close to all of the hot spots on State St. The rooms are better than the Chicago W's. They feature handscraped wood floors, concrete walls, walk in showers with rain heads, comfy beds & the mini bar is actually affordable! Highly recommend!

The service was pretty good. The hotel restaurant was great during happy hour (still a little pricey for drinks). The concierge was completely unhelpful, but loved to talk. BUT THE BED was phenomenal! Get ready for a GREAT NIGHT SLEEP. If you are coming to Chicago to party, and want to sleep until 11 the next morning, this is the place. You'll never want to get up.

We stayed 4 nights in July. The location was perfect for us. If you walk in one direction ( down State St you will arrive at the Chicago River ( River Walk, boat tours, restauarants, famous buildings, etc.) and if you walk in the other direction ( Ontario St or Grand Ave) you will arrive at Navy Pier ( bike rental, restaurants, ferris wheel , children's museum, boat tours, trolley, etc.). A very short walk from the Redline transit stop ( subway). The hotel itself was clean and welcoming. The staff at the front desk and the concierge were friendly and helpful. Our room ( corner King) was very comfortable ( so much so that we are looking into buying the pillows and comforter set). The rainfall shower head was modern and there were floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides ( remember to close your blinds at night. Parking was $40 with valet and self park would be $25 and right beside the hotel. The price was reasonable ( $160 per night). There is 24 hr room service and also a new restaurant in the hotel ( we did not have an opportunity to dine there). The rooftop bar ( Vertigo) was not really our style ( the clientele a bit young). I can't think of anything negative about the property.

Room Tip: Corner King rooms have windows on two sides and upper floors offer great views.
