Our Saturday afternoon food tour of the Gold Coast and Olde Town with friends was a gift from our kids. We were running late (lots of traffic!), so we called the phone number included with the driving and parking info and other details of the day...and Angie, our delightful tour guide, was cheerfully waiting for us at the entrance to Lou Malnati's! Happy start to a fun afternoon. We loved the variety of food, the interesting neighborhoods and buildings, and Angie's informative discussion of all the places we visited, their history and Chicago connections. We want to do all the tours now!

This was the second Chicago Food Planet Tour I have taken with my wife. In 2010 we did the Old Town/Gold Coast tour which was great and I thought was slightly better than the Bucktown/Wicker Park. The stops were neat were all great, but it would be nice to have a little more room in the restaurants and be able to get a little insight from someone associated with the stop. For example the chocolate and homemade marshmallows were great at Hot Chocolate, but I really wanted to learn more about how Chef Mindy Segal creates her delicacies not just how many James Beard Awards she has received. Our tour guide was Kent, a friendly hipster, who was nice, but lacked insight on the food experience.

Overall I enjoyed the tour, Chicago is a great city and its fun to experience the neighborhoods through the food. The experience was not as good as my first tour in Old Town.

Oliva was our energetic hostess on a beautiful Saturday. We had a diverse group of 18 that all interacted with each other and had a great time. We especially liked starting out with the salad and big slice of pie @ Malnati's so we were more than ready to do some walking after that. The neighborhoods were really cool and the stops were all yummy and we learned something new at each and every stop. Excellent value and great way to spend a few hours in the city. Will definitely plan on going on the other trips, too.

I really enjoyed this tour, with special thanks to our tour guide, Jen. She was very knowledgeable and pointed out a lot of historical landmarks which made the tour that much more interesting. It was fun getting to try new things and learning about the foods along the way. Great tour.

A few weekends ago I went on the China Town food tour with my husband and family, and it was outstanding. I have been on a variety of food tours in the past and even spent 3 years working for a food tour company in the caribbean. This tour was the perfect blend of food, culture and history. We got to taste a variety of food from different regions of China and learned why each region's food is unique. In addition, our tour guide Ploy was amazing, she was friendly and knew her stuff. I would highly recommend this tour!
