We stayed at Best Western Reids' Inn and received a 10% discount coupon. Being late and not wanting to drive around on a dark and damp January night after 350 mi drive we decided to use the offer. Less than a 1/2 mile down the road, we pulled into the parking lot at 5:30 just as a what looked like an AARP convention was exiting - it was just the the Senior Club members in for their Friday Seafood Smorgasbord @ $13.95! We timed it right since the 1st dinner shift was leaving. The seating is unpretentious: typical church supper table and chairs but the Buffet was amazing!
The huge pile of chicken legs turned out to be frog legs, several types of fried fish (white fish, tilapia and salmon patties), boiled red crawdads, stuffed crabs, and deep fried crabs. The piles of food were being replenished as we came so everything was fresh. As a counter point to the fish I also had thinly sliced prime rib roast (which was perfect (medium with a touch of rare)). The salad was normal buffet stuff with exception of cold artificial crab meat. Did not have a chance to try everything--would have to skip lunch to prepare.
The servers were cheerful but harried. Families started to arrive as we were eating. We would like to return some day on a Saturday for their rib and meatloaf specials. Fried fish is available every day of the week. The are open everyday 7 a.m to 8:30 p.m.-i/2 hr longer on Friday and Saturday.
