“Best breakfast in Charleston”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

By far the best option for breakfast, and even with a large crowd on family weekend at EIU, this place knows how to provide service and do so quickly. Quality of the food is good...don't let the line at the door scare you. The management here nows how to turn keep things moving and so the wait is never really that long.

“Very Filling”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We went their because people around town said it was good. The food was quick and the waiter tried to rush our order because a large group was ordering at the same time we were. Staff was never rude and continue to check up on how we were doing. Everything was wonderful.

“Some times better than others”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

Normal array of breakfast choices are tasty, but the strawberry bread is worth taking home. Staff was attentive and food was good. Gets very busy during school year, very lively, but going during the summer is much more relaxed, and service is better. A block or two off the downtown square. Have eaten here 2-3 times for breakfast, during school and during summer, and have not had a bad meal. Décor is just right for a college town favorite.

“Town favorite...not mine”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

This restaurant is a town favorite. Talk to the locals for any amount of time and you will find that this place has risen to iconic status. It can't be because of the dated 80's decor or the food that is...well, bland (the other reviews aren't lying). If you are going to eat here stick to breakfast or an occasional lunch and you will be okay. Why chips/french fries are extra with their sandwiches is beyond me. So what's the attraction? After living close by for a few years it's clear that people enjoy it because they know what to expect. The regulars are there regularly and the wait staff seem to know everyone (at least the regulars). Something similar to what was going on at 'Cheers' - they weren't known for their food or beer either. btw - Norm shows up on Wednesdays.

“Awful...”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

The staff is the rudest you will find - if you want a coffee refill they act like you are bothering them. The food is of poor quality & overpriced for what you get.
