My husband and I stayed here in the jacuzzi suite and purchased the romance package. The jacuzzi tub was dirty and the meal we received at the restaurant was undercooked. After complaining to the manager he told us we were not getting a refund or discount and we ended up leaving that night. Do not waste your time and money!!!!

Dear, Amybrooks02, Thank you for taking the time to review the Elkwater Lake Lodge and Resort. We appreciate value your feedback and we will certainly look into all the items you have brought to our attention.

If you do not mind, please let us speak of our effort and eagerness to provide our guests with high quality of service.

Since 2009, Elkwater Lake Lodge & Resort has officially received an award for housekeeping for six consecutive years from Alberta Hotel Association (also including 2014)

Providing our guests with well-cleaned, tidy and comfortable rooms is always on our top priority.

It has been our pride since 2009 that we could do that sucessfully.

Our staff are so open-minded that we are ready to listen to guests.

Whenever we receive any complaints from our guests, we promptly rush to see and check what is the problem on the spot and do our best to satisfy our guests by correcting it without any hesitation.

However a few guests strangely do not give us any opportunities to see and check the problematic spot.

Confusingly, They seem they never want to see us face to face and even never want to show the things that caused inconvenience to them.

In such a case, honestly speaking, we can not do anything for them.

That kind of allegation severely hurts our staff' pride and frustrates our staff's effort.

My husband and I stayed in a jacuzzi suite and found
it clean enough but not resort standards. The view from
the window is parking lot. Very loud, noisy patrons which
the staff, if there were any available at that time of night,
could check on. Made for a long,,,,,,night. Beds were
fine enough but will not return.

Stayed here last night in one of their Jacuzzi suites. The room was respectable but nothing fancy. It was clean and spacious. However, there was only one tv in the living room and it wasn't even a flatscreen. The shower and two seater jacuzzi were really nice. The restaurant food was good but not worth the price. There seemed to be only one server working at the time in the whole place. Hours were really short and they weren't even open for breakfast on a Sunday. This place would be nice for ski/snowboarders but not for a casual night away from the city.

The bed was uncomfortable
Our balcony overlooked the parking area
Room smelled musty
Two people three pillows
Cheap bedding
Did not clean our room because our three pound dog was inside so when we returned after a long day there were no clean towels as the front desk is unmanned after ten
All doors are unlocked all day an all night
If you come late they just leave your key at the front
The restaurant is expensive yet is about as ambient as the basement of my 1984 split level house in the suburbs
Even though our room overlooked the park cars we had to park somewhere else every time as it was always full
Jets not working on the hot tub
Spa is in a renovated hotel room and has no front desk so you just walk in to the pedicure area
Massage therapist was a bit too talkative although seemed like a nice girl
They say they've won a house keeping award but I found it to be just as clean as the Edmonton super8
This really isn't a resort its more of a motel near a provincial park elk ridge in waskesieu is a resort, this really doesn't qualify. They should call it a lodge, hire an overnight desk attendant, increase safety measures and parking, lower prices and do something with that restaurant. In their defence they warned us with a waiver about the dog thing but I paid extra to have my dog in my room and at three pounds she is hardly a threat to their cleaning staff overall very irritated and my back is sore from the queen size bed (who puts a single queen size?)

We have recitifed a few of the items that you found not to your standards, including the hot tub jets (parts are on order) and all of our beds are new in 2012.

We have a 3 month old son, and could not have asked for a better a last-minute weekend getaway. Cypress Hills was a perfect distance away from Calgary (with a stop in Medicine Hat to feed the baby) to make us feel like we had escaped.

We booked two nights in a jacuzzi suite and it was well worth it. I don't normally 'upgrade' but there were no other room types available for that weekend. The room came with a pretty large kitchenette: fridge and a microwave. Since dining out with a baby can be unpredictable, we brought food for breakfast and lunch with us. For dinner, we ordered take-away from Buglers Restaurant (just next door) and ate it in our room with the baby. The room was large enough to make this a very comfortable set-up. This way, we saved some money, and still had a relaxing and delicious (!) dinner that someone else made without the stress of dining out with an infant.

I'm not sure if every room comes with a rocking chair, but ours did and it was marvelous to be able to rock our son. His pack n play/crib fit nicely into the corner of the large bedroom with king sized bed and we all slept well*. As a plus, my husband and I got to enjoy the jacuzzi after baby had gone to bed! What new mom couldn't use a bath?

Our son naps best when he is moving, and this worked perfectly since we wanted to explore the park! We went for a drive along the recommended driving route, and also did a hike. There are flat paved trails near the Resort that are perfect for stroller walks, and there are interesting (but short) hiking trails nearby. We put the baby in the carrier, hiked for two hours, fed him, and then hiked for two more hours.

Elkwater Lake Lodge was perfectly situated and met all of our needs. Thank you! If a change is as good as a rest, then my husband got a rest, and I got a change. :)

*Well enough considering the baby is three months old; he's not an angel-baby.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi Suites are large enough to fit a pack n play with plenty of room to spare.

We have been enjoying Cypress Hills interprovincial park for years. The Elkwater lake although not very large has never seemed over crowded for boating and the near by trout lakes are a pleasure to fish. This year we had a family wedding in Elkwater and the majority of guests stayed at the Elk Water Lake Lodge.

Given the number of family and other guests attending we were able to view several suite configurations. One of the Condo suite configurations is less than ideal, but adequate nonetheless. In our opinion the Loft Suites in the Main Lodge are the nicest, with the jacuzzi suites pulling up a close second. The rooms are well appointed and kept very clean. I believe the housekeeping staff deserves some kudos.

Of all of the guests attending the only complaint was about the lack of air conditioning in the Rustic Cabins. The Alpine cabins are among the trees and thus are better shaded during hot summer days.

One of the features we most enjoyed was the large Fire Place / Pit at the back of the main building. Our family had a cookout there in front of a roaring fire for hours.

If traveling across the Prairies and you want a quiet retreat, stopping at the Elk Water Lake Lodge is worth the effort. It is not far off the Number one Highway, and only 40 minute from Medicine Hat, alberta, so getting there is relatively easy.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi suites are around back on ground level of main lodge, as opposed to upper floor with a view...
