“Was nice and great price!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed here over the weekend and it was nice, the kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub, the beds were comfy, I loved the pillows, the bathroom is a little small. Breakfast in the morning was great! Lots of great choices and everything was very good!

For her birthday, our daughter wanted to see Penn State play at Illinois. I used Choice Privileges Points for this room. We had a 1st floor room so my husband could park the minivan outside the window to our room (has security issues). The room was large enough for the 4 of us but I would have preferred a refrigerator & microwave which was only available in the 2nd floor suites. The kids used the indoor pool and whirlpool which they enjoyed. In the morning, breakfast was in the lobby with juice, coffee, and waffle-maker along with wrapped snack cakes. It was sufficient to get us going on our way after check-out so we could get to the stadium before game time. There was a coffee-maker in the room, so I asked the front desk clerk for extra coffee for the morning. I would stay here again - safe & quiet - near a mall.

my kids call it "low-quality inn". That's coming from a 9 yr old, and we all agreed. Sheets slip off the bed in the middle of the night, mattress was lousy, breakfast - coffee was empty, waffle batter was empty, cream was empty. I told the front desk guy and he eventually filled up on all, but he seemed to be the only guy working in the hotel, and he just didn't have the time to do everything. Also, garbage was overflowing in the breakfast area. Back to the room. . . tv was old - not a flat screen. Only one bar soap for sink and shower, towels were flimsy and small and scratchy. Room was hot. Is that enough comments? We were more than ready to leave in the morning, but unfortunately this was the only hotel I could find that had a room available since it was a football weekend.

Room was not fancy, but clean. Bed was very comfortable. Free Wi-fi worked well. Nice to have microwave, frig, & coffee maker. But, I was also expecting to watch the evening news & Monday Night Football and have a hot breakfast the next morning. No ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, or ESPN. Explanation was that motel was switching providers. The motel was also waiting for their hot breakfast permit to be renewed & therefore had only pastries for breakfast. The staff, except for the manager, was very friendly & sympathetic to my concerns even though they couldn't fix the problems. The manager was a jerk. Overall, a very dissapointing stay.

The room was what I expected for the price range. Room size was good. Typical mid-range hotel breakfast. The bed was very good. Free wi-fi, but the congestion was so bad it was unusable most of the time. Behind the nightstand was very dusty. Pool did not have any towels available. My biggest complaint was the TV. They have a framed channel listing on the nightstand, but half of the channels did not work. NONE of the kids/teen channels worked. Called the front desk and they told me they would look into it. Asked later at the front desk and they couldn't do anything because they would have to call the manager and they didn't want to disturb him.

What do you expect for 2 stars and cheap. Not bad for a group of young adults just needing a place to crash. Lady at the front counter made sure our room was ready before checking us in which was nice. Didnt smell like smoke, like other people said. Little pool and broken hot tub...niether were the cleanest looking. Beds were comfy and room was clean. Not too many TV channels but free wi-fi was a plus.

Cons: They gave us keys to a room that was not ready. (The housekeeping staff were still cleaning and had the door propped open with the cart.) The NONSMOKING room they moved us to smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. When I rang the bell at the front desk, no one was there. I then called from my room and the frontdesk employee told me that I couldn't be smelling smoke because that was definitely a nonsmoking room. She came up and sprayed some strong air freshener, which helped a little. The pool was closed during our stay "for cleaning". We were told upon checkin that it had been closed and had just re-opened that morning, but later that afternoon we saw that it was closed again, and it remained closed until we checked out the next day. The furnishings and decor seem worn and outdated.

Pros: The staff were friendly (though unorganized) and the continental breakfast was better than we expected.

There are much better area hotels for comparable prices.
