“Great Dinner-nice Environment”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

We had a lovely dinner here. This restaurant is a gem in Champaign. The food was great and the service was excellent. The menu was varied; we enjoyed the salads with added grilled shrimp, the shrimp appetizer, and the chicken with mole sauce; my only comment would be that I would have preferred all white meat in the chicken dish and didn't think to ask for it this way. I would recommend this restaurant.

“Good Food and Good Service in Central Illinois”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

My wife and I were in Champaign for a concert at the Krannert Center and got to town in time to have dinner with a friend before the concert. We tried Escobar's based on Trip Advisor travelers' ratings and once again our fellow Trip Advisor reviewers hit the bulls eye. This is a restaurant with a pleasant, low-key environment, friendly service, and very good food. Each of us enjoyed the meal very much and look forward to returning on a future visit to Champaign-Urbana. I definitely recommend Escobar's for those who enjoy good Latin American-style food.

“Excellent”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Excellent service. Excellent food. The Central America influence provides a great selection of wonderful entrees, each served in a wonderful setting. But don't worry. If your tastes run more to the flatlands, not-so-spicy fare, you'll find plenty to love as well.

“Out of the ordinary”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

On a very busy weekend, stopped in without a reservation with our two college kids and their significant others of the moment. Had been there before but these specials were amazing. Started with a delicious mojito. Having drunk several the week before in Miami, Escobar's version could compete with the South Beach big boys. We all had the two specials-grilled lobster/shrimp with pasta and veg, and poached amberjack with a coconut sauce and asparagus. Wth a price point around $20, this was a great value. Even though we were too full for dessert, we couldn't pass up the homemade Mexican cinnamon gelato. Some of the best gelato ever! I'm so glad to see downtown Champaign is being infused with so many great non-chain, innovative restaurants. It's come a long way since I was a student there, thanks to places like Escobar's!

“Good food for your money”

Nice, eclectic menu. Service was slow but the food came surprisingly good. I would recommend this place. So much better than some of other places located downtown champaign, especially, or rile kofusion
