This is a basic level hotel with an obliging and friendly owner and family members. It is three minutes saunter from the beach. The linen is clean, the wifi good, tea and/or coffee is provided upon request. Breakfast was plentiful and the evening meal (cooked by Seetha, the manager's mother in law) is stunning. I stayed for a week and every evening was presented with a feast...rice and curry but homecooked so different every night. On two nights there was a beach barbecue with tuna and an enormous mullet.
The area is handy for picking up a bus to Galle for the day or Ambalangoda for the rail station or just looking round an ordinary not particularly tourist town. Visits to local sites can be arranged or you can just chill and enjoy the sun, sea and sand.
Communal areas are swept and cleaned every day but there is no routine cleaning of rooms unless you ask (but once you ask...no problem). Yes...there are cockroaches (where in the tropics are there not?) and the kitchen could stand a refurbishment but if you are robust and chilled this is a good place to just spend time and be. I loved it.
