Description: The Barnyard is a rustic venue in the middle of the Kentish countryside near Upchurch that comprises an artisan Farm Shop selling (amongst other things) home grown fruits, veggies and cheeses, and restaurant. Set amongst 150 acres of woodlands and orchards, this idyllic escape is the perfect spot for weddings and lazy lunches, and our restaurant is a homely dining room as well as an al fresco paved patio and terrace for sunny days. Imbued with a countrysidey sense of calm, our restaurant at the Barnyard prides itself on its modern British menu.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch at the Barnyard with my husband. Food was excellent with good size portions, staff very attentive. We will definitely be returning.

Having read such negative reviews about staff attitude we were pleasantly surprised by fabulous service by George. Very friendly and professional service. Food was hot and tasty and we will be returning .

Have enjoyed lunch and breakfast at the barnyard numerous times but won’t return after this mornings disappointing breakfast. Staff not interested in offering good customer service and inedible gluten free sausages, lukewarm apart from the beans which had been nuked to oblivion and a snotty egg.

Prior to booking our wedding, we thought we would try out the food. In short, it was an excellent breakfast with good service so we had not hesitation in booking the wedding itself with food being provided by the venue.

Our waitress was very attentive but then two of our meals were already out of stock by 1pm on a Limited Sunday lunch menu- we agreed to swap but then waited nearly an hour for five meals two of which were ploughman’s! We have tried three times this summer but won’t be rushing back- the surroundings set a high standard but the service does not. We waited nearly an hour the last time on a weekday and no-one was rushed off their feet. The ‘maitre d’ is surly and ineffective such a shame.
