Had an adequate one night stay here, but wouldn't have wished to stay any longer. Basic en suite bedroom, television didn't work, meanly thin pillows, no mattress protector (sheet immediately on top of the mattress) and a large live spider and dirt and dust by the side of the bed next to the window, which obviously doesn't get pulled out for cleaning. No coffee at all included on a very sparse hospitality tray, with bowl of loose sugar, which didn't seem particularly hygienic, despite being covered by a lid.
Although this was a basic 'room above a pub', with a little bit more money spending on the décor of the room and a better cleaning regime, it could be quite a charming place to stay as the pub itself is pretty old and seemingly a former coaching inn. A shame the room didn't attempt to reflect it's historical heritage a little. However, building works were going on downstairs and we understand that, as with so many other pubs, the business will be concentrating more on the restaurant side of things in the future, rather than the bar, so maybe the letting rooms won't be of much importance anyway once the restaurant facilities have been extended.
Breakfast was fine, and cooked freshly to order. Cheerful staff.
