i have been staying here on a regular basis for well over a year now whenever i am in the western suburbs of Chicago. we also stay here as a Family when visiting chicago and take the train into town instead of paying twice as much for a room downtown

the staff is friendly and know the room type i like
the location is excellant which allows me to get to work as well as be close to shopping and entertainment
the Hotel amenities are fantastic. i use the workout room and the pool on a regular basis. the breakfast buffet was world class and now there are fewer choices but still a fine spread

The location is definitely fully into suburbia, but there's plenty of restaurants, golf, etc. in the area, so it's not too remote. The staff was very nice, although some of the room service staff were a little...efficient to the point of being brusque. The floor plan of the hotel is strange, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They really need better signage for getting to the right elevator (there are two and the two sides do not connect). If you're on the north side, you're fine because the elevator is right there, but if you're on the south side, you have to traverse the indoor jungle, which is kind of a pain if you have luggage. I was told (only after I asked - twice) to "follow the pebbled walk" which was fine until the pebbled walk ended and forked! You're not walking miles or anything, but it's just kind of off-putting since you really don't know if you're going in the right direction until you see the elevator.

The rooms are definitely unique. They're hexagon shaped and the ceiling has an interesting, almost Frank Lloyd Wright-esque wood design in the center. The room had plenty of space. I had two queen beds, and there was also an easy chair with ottoman, desk and desk chair, small dresser where the TV sat, and cabinet with the mini bar. They have definitely seen better days, though. The bathroom (excluding the shower and toilet) looked like it had been at least fairly recently redone with a nice stone floor and granite (or granite-like) large vanity. More than plenty of room if you want to lay out all your stuff or have more than one person. It was more or less clean.

The shower is your basic tub with a shower head. It really needs a better non-slip coating, though. It's a deep tub and there's no handle or anything to steady yourself (the handle is under the shower head, not at the back. So if you want to hold on to the handle while you get in, you have to go between the toilet and the tub and walk under the showerhead. The toilet is also RIGHT up against the door if you have it open (I was alone and shutting the door wasn't really a necessity). Just kind of awkward placement.

One thing that is a big pet peeve at hotels is staff who obviously don't regularly check the condition of the rooms. The shower curtain was just kind of gross. There were a couple of rather large stains on it and one of the ceiling tiles had a big chunk out of it with what looked like possibly water damage around the edges.

The beds were comfortable, but were getting a little worn with definite dips on the side where most people have apparently slept (including me). It was very hot the days I was there and the air conditioner worked quite well. The TV was good-sized and the internet worked well. They REALLY need more outlets, though. There was only one plug in the room area (on the lamp on the desk) and two plugs (one outlet) in the bathroom. They also didn't provide any kind of channel guide, so it was just sort of search and find to see what channels were available.

I definitely agree with the other reviewers that have said just don't stay in the interior facing rooms if you can help it (and really don't if you aren't on at least the third or fourth floor). I had the unfortunate experience of having an interior facing room on the second floor that was about 3 feet from the entrance to the bar. It wasn't unruly per se, but on a Friday night of a mini-break when I just wanted to order room service and veg out in front of the TV, it wasn't really the greatest. Golf views are the best, but take whatever you can get on the outside if you can. A dark cave where you can't open the curtains and you can hear people at the bar all evening and night is just bad. Fortunately, the bar is only open until 11:00 p.m. (still late!), but there are plenty of seats and walkways in the area right there, so people don't necessarily all disperse immediately.

Room Tip: Avoid the interior-facing rooms! The golf views are definitely the best, but even a view of the roof...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. While there are some things that are ourside of our control (such as building shape and design), there are certainly areas that can be be continually improved. I have passed on your comments to our hotel team for review. Thanks again for your feedback!

We stayed at the Indian Lakes Bloomindale Resrt to attend a wedding. The wedding reception was outstanding the food was excellent and the atmosphere outstanding. The following day we had breakfast then played golf. The only negative experience we had was with the bathroom shower which was wheel chair accessable which had the shower ar best 4 feet high & I am 6 feet tall. When showereing the water wet the entire bathroom floor. In the future I would recommend asking permission at check in to assign a handicap room.

Our experience was in line with what we paid. We had some great meals from foodservice and some that could have had more attention. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The facility could use some attention to small details in regard to repair and maintenance.

For the price, very good experience. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast was great. The main area is fantastic for meetings or just hanging out watching everyone while you check emails or do business.

Billed as a family resort outside of the city {Chicago}, the hexagonal shapes, timber beams and color scheme are all dated and worn. Felt like a 1970's time warp. Main entrance is dark and low, no sense of arrival. Parking is free. Location is out in suburbia, so they bill themselves as a one-stop shop. Golf course, mini-golf, very small outdoor pool with a metal fence, deck chairs outside the fencing and a pool snack shop that is only open on the weekends, even in summer. Hallways are angular, winding and difficult to manuever with luggage. Rooms are decent-size, large windows and many floor-to-ceiling curtains. Only stay in exterior rooms, interior rooms have no natural light and windows facing the lobby and hallways - a cave. Small meeting rooms had a very dank musty smell, again interior with feeble lighting. Ballrooms are at the end of the property, again with the angular ceilings and shapes. Expected the dinner bell to ring. Needs a major overhall - hope Hilton is up to the task.

Room Tip: Ask for golf-view rooms. Highest floors overlook the rooftop of the floor below, based on pyramidal...

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your most recent stay with us. Our uniquie shaped rooms and hotel layout is one of the things that make us unique. We were designed by Architect Don Erickson, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is part of our history and what makes us special.

We have just recently completed a renovation of our spa and resurfaced our outdoor pool. We are getting ready for a renovation of our guest rooms and lobby area very soon. We hope you will join us again soon to experience the new product.
