“Great Location!”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

I've been to Chicago several times and generally stay right downtown. However, this time there were no rooms available because of all the graduations. We decided to stay at the Hampton Inn and will definitely be back! Upon checking in, we received our parking passes (which is $13/day after tax. Much cheaper than parking downtown). The front desk staff was very friendly and extremely helpful in answering all the questions we had about the shuttle. The shuttle takes you right to the front door of the airport and they then give you a little orange card with directions and instructions on where to go/what to do upon arriving back at the airport. The shuttle arrives at the hotel about every 20 minutes from 4 AM to 4 PM, after that you must call them from the airport or have the front desk call them. We never waited more than 10-15 minutes for the shuttle to arrive, both coming and going.
We took the El downtown, which we had never done before, and it was very, VERY easy. All of the locals were helpful when we had questions (which were often!).
The rooms were very clean - the only thing was that at first when we turned on our A/C there was a significant smell. After the A/C had been on for a while, it disappeared. Probably because it hasn’t been on much yet this year. The breakfast was great - they have eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, bagels, etc. I would definitely recommend staying at Midway as opposed to O'Hare if possible - it's much closer to downtown Chicago and so much easier to get around.

This hotel has a great service, and the staff really makes you feel welcome. The shuttle bus is constantly stopping by to take you to the airport. You can even go to downtown Chicago taking the EL Train right at the airport. The rooms are perfectly clean. They offer the continental breakfast with multiple choices to eat. There are also some good restaurants nearby. They do have good security around the parking lot, and they give you a card to place it in the car to keep it safe.

My husband & I ended up staying here a few nights because all the rest of the hotels in Chicago were full. No kidding. It wasn't convenient for where we were visiting (Hyde Park & the Loop) but it was less inconvenient than I expected. The only available hotels in Chicago were at either Midway or O'Hare and Midway is way more convenient than O'Hare. I always like Hampton Inns and this one was pretty much like all the others. Our room was very clean and comfortable (aside from, possibly, the carpet). I slept very well. The free wifi is much appreciated. The first night, as we were checking in, a large group of young people arrived, either from a wedding or a prom - not sure which. I was worried that there might be some rowdiness but they seemed well behaved and quiet. I had problems with two things. 1) I'm tired of the breakfasts at all Hamptons. I appreciate getting breakfast and feel like I shouldn't complain but the fake tasting eggs and watery oatmeal just didn't hit the spot this morning. I should stick to the cold cereal and fruit. 2) The carpets in this hotel just didn't look quite as clean as I would like. In my opinion, it is time for new carpets here - particularly in the elevators.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn at the Midway Airport Complex this year. Last year we stayed at the Holiday Inn at the complex and it was very nice, too, but lacking a decent, quick breakfast. The Hampton was a wonderful hotel to relax, sleep, eat breakfast and fly out at the Midway Airport the next morning. The room was clean, comfortable and updated. A continental-type buffet breakfast was included with the room/parking price and was a wonderful way to begin the morning. They had some hot food on the buffet as well as the usual cereal, muffins, waffles etc. It was served in the lobby - a wonderfully whimsical place with model airplanes hanging from the ceiling. We were able to park in their lot for 10 days while we were away. The shuttle was quick and easy both coming and going. The Midway Complex on Cicero is a great place to stay before a flight out - the Hamptom was one of the best in its offerings and value!

Staff is very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was also very good with fresh fruit daily. Reliable shuttle provides easy access to airport, Chicago transit and the loop.

We stayed here the night before an early flight. The hotel seemed clean and had large rooms. Very close to the airport, but the neighborhood is questionable. We did leave our car for the week and it was still there when we returned. That was good. There is a TGIF right next door. Lots of stores in the area in case you forget something. The hotel shuttle was a huge bonus. We took the 4:00 am and it was right on time. On our return we only waited @ 15 minutes and it was there. That was a great service.

The hotel does offer breakfast at 6:00 am, but we didn't try it since we were already gone. They did have coffee and tea available for the early people.

The only negative I have is that I had bites on my leg the next day. I hate to say that, but they were not there prior to sleeping in that bed. I had about 8 red bites on my legs.

Anyway, all in all, it was good for a Midway stay. Park-sleep-fly
