Owner description: Welcome to Bearna Golf Club! Located at the gateway to Connemara in the Gaeltacht, with commanding views of Galway Bay, the Burren and the Aran Islands, and only five miles from Galway city. Built on Connemara moorland it is a high scenic area with features and colours and plant and animal life that you won't find elsewhere. Wonderful characteristics of gorse bushes, ditches, humps and bumps, twists and turns, all surrounded by authentic Irish peat bog, make for a thrilling round of golf.

“Off the beaten track”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Just the place to go if the better known courses in the area are fully booked . Played a few times and relatively quiet . The rough can be brutal , no chance of finding a wayward drive in the furze bushes . Maintenance a bit patchy in parts . Quite challenging on a windy day . Worth a visit , though slightly more expensive than the nearby competition .

“Nice course”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Not top of the line, but a good challenge with some great views. The last few holes are pretty tough, but nicely laid out and quite fun to play. Worthy a try!

“What are your expectations?”
Reviewed September 30, 2011

If you're staying in Galway and looking for something close by, Bearna is a fun stop. If you're on a serious golf trip looking to play the best of the best offered in Ireland, steer clear. A links course in name only, locals will tell you this course gets "boggy" meaning you don't get the run you would expect.

Price is right, we paid 30 euros each. Got what we paid for. It was a nice round for the price. But if you're after the best, make the hour, fifteen minute drive to Lahinch.
