Best captains in the world that are extremely knowledgeable and genuinely want to make sure you have an amazing fishing experience. All the staff is extremely accommodating. Every meal was better than the last.

Three of us just had a great time with David Salazar and his team at Casa Vieja lodge. Everything was up to our high expectations - the fishing, the accommodations, the food and especially the friendly service. We'll be going back,

This was my 2nd time visiting the Casa Vieja Lodge. the first time was 3 years ago and was very happy with the Lodge and the Fishing. I returned again this past November and noticed that the Lodge had made many new additions! The new owners are doing a fantastic job taking care of the guests and I will be returning again in March 2105!
Everything is first class! The people who are employed at the Lodge REALLY make you feel special! They will go out of their way to make sure everything is "perfect". I would recommend the Casa Vieja Lodge to anyone who wants to catch fish, but more importantly, be treated like a "special person"!

I fished with Captain David Salazar previously in Venezuela and had a great time so of course I decided to give it a go in Guatemala. WOW! I went with a girlfriend of mine and the fishing was unbelievable! Captain David taught us both to catch a sailfish on the fly, and I did it on my first try! How exhilarating! From the moment I exited the airport, everything from the fishing, to the lodge, to the staff, to the transportation itself was top notch. I always felt secure and was worry-free. The staff is amazing and I never had an empty drink or plate in hand! I showed my giant sailfish on the fly picture to all of my friends and work associates and they couldn’t believe it. Well believe it! Now we are all planning a trip down Casa Vieja Lodge!

Thank you for taking the chance on us Stephanie, as it surely paid off, your first sailfish on the fly is a beauty! We cannot wait to host your associates here at the lodge, and perhaps you can teach them how to land one on the fly!

Six days at Casa Vieja Lodge leaves me searching for words good enough to describe the experience. From Melanie's pre-trip guidance package to Michael's airport pick-up and return, to the Lodge reception, the clean and spacious rooms, the housekeeping, the food and bar service, the security, the marina logistics, the boats, crews and equipment, and especially Captain Chris Sheeder - the experience was as seamless as it was wonderful. Catching a 100 pound sailfish on a fly rod was an exceptional experience and having landed eleven sails in four days was truly wonderful. Casa Vieja is a place my fly fishing wife would like and that is saying A LOT!

Room Tip: Rooms on the left just past the gate are quiet but I'll bet there is not a bad room at the lodge...

Captain Salazar and his entire crew have gone beyond what is expected to deliver a first class fishing experience. When we arrived at the lodge, we were greeting by the lodge's staff who had drinks in hand for us and our 11 year old son. The lodge is beautiful and clean. We fished for three days aboard the Finest Kind with Captain Salazar and his two mates who were professional and friendly. The food at the lodge and on board the boat was excellent. The peaceful sapphire waters of the Pacific were loaded with sailfish. We also caught a yellow fin tuna which the mates immediately cleaned and cut into sushi. The entire experience was so enjoyable, we cannot wait to go back!

Just spent 4 1/2 days at Casa Vieja Lodge. Total of 15 guys. First time for me but some of the others have been back 5 or 6 times. From the time we were picked up at Guatemala City airport until the time they returned us it was a truly amazing experience. Over 450 sailfish were caught and released by the group over the 3 days of fishing. Boats, captains and mates were outstanding. I fished the Rum Line (Capt Chris) and the Spin Drift (Capt Nicho) and both were excellent, friendly and patient with all of us first timers. Boats are in first class shape and well maintained and fully stocked. Just think about catching a Dorado (Mahi) and having it cleaned and cooked for your lunch on board while still trolling for and catching sails! The accommodations, food and service back at the lodge were exceptional. The courtesy and friendliness extended from the wait staff to the bar staff to the drivers.

The surrounding area is Central America after all, but never for the moment felt unsafe. The lodge is really an oasis and the pool and dining hut area with bar were great. A fisherman's Mecca for sure!
