“Diners Drive-ins and Dives... Right here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

Where is Guy Fieri? He's gotta see this place. Food good, owners right there. A Greek touch in some food served, which s great. Eggs, salad, real burgers, grilled cheese like the some would make illegal ts so good. This s the food and place that you want to enjoy. Not complicated. Ths s an old joint, all cleaned up. It's a Barrington landmark, but don't go because of that. Go for the food. Go for breakfast or lunch. Not open late, owners got to sleep sometime...they are always there!

“The Good The Bad and the Ugly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012

As soon as you enter this restaurant you can tell that it is a local icon. It's obviously a family run place, full of character, full of authentic fun stuff (no Cracker Barrel fake antiques here) and loaded with un-pretention. Friendly staff, a fun interior and a nice atmosphere.

I ordered a gyro plate - it was fine, but it ought to be as there isn't any trick to that dish.

My companion ordered a greek tomato salad - again, shouldn't be too hard but it was nearly swimming in olive oil. I love olive oil but there had to be at least 1/8 to 1/4 inch of it on the bottom of the plate. By the taste of it, it was cheap olive oil mixed with vegetable oil. If they had just held off on the oil it would have been fine.

The ugly bit was the falafel which we ordered as a side. The cook had prepared it like one would have if it were a pancake - cooked on a grill. It wound up as slightly browned falafel on the outside and uncooked, dry mix in the middle. It seemed that the cook had never seen a falafel in the wild and had misunderstood the directions on the package.

Final verdict: I'll go back because I like the atmosphere so much but I won't order falafel!
I hear that they have good breakfasts - it looks like the kind of place that would do a great breakfast. I also hear that they serve a really great Greek lemon and rice soup.

It was a nice, comfortable place to visit and would be a great place to bring the kids as there are lots of fun things to look at.

Old fashioned interior, good food, model airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Very good food. Well worth it. Go!

“Diamond in the rough”

For a great meal, this hidden jewel is the place. It starts from the greeting by the owner, the smile on the waitress' and ending with a great entree, no matter what ya choose!
