The quaint little island is one of the friendliest places on earth. The locals make you feel at home. The food on Guana Cay is awesome everyone takes great pride in there craft. Jerry at Pirates Cove personally cooks the best steak I have ever had. Nippers has the best seafood and party in the caribbean. Don't go to this island it will ruin you for all other places.

“Guana Cay is OK”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

There is not much on the island. There are small shops and 2 restaurants. Good 1/2 day trip. The marina restaurant is apparently closed until further notice. Check out Dive Guana for diving in the area.

“Paradise for Beach Lovers”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

I had the pleasure of staying in Great Guana Cay at Orchid Bay Marina during the last week in April. There had been a storm over the weekend, and I arrived to high winds and rough seas. There was a fishing tournament taking place, but even so, it was very quiet and laid back.

The first stop was Nipper's, and it was awesome! The house punch was excellent, and the views spectacular. The deck opens to the beautiful beach. Aqua waters and white sand as far as the eye can see. The water was warm and the sun bright. It was all I was looking for!

“A true island dream .”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

Great Guana just absurdly nice . Most know it by simply stumbling off a boat at town dock and wandering up to the famous Nipper's beach front bar . This place is loved and hated . It has 2 pools and overlooks the atlantic and from its beach , you walk in with snorkels to behold 3rd largest reef in world .....no boat needed ! Food is OK at Nippers ( reported home of Jimmy Buffet's 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' ) . I have been there twice and once it was mobbed with tourists including a few too many in the 60's ( and older ) trying to recreate their teenage youth exploits .

My favorite place on island is the western facing Grabbers on the Sea of Abaco side of island ( about 75 yards to left off town dock ) . Kind of a hip and quiet place on beach ( also has rooms that looked decent ) with good menu of food and their frozen Grabber's rum punch just obscenely good . Kids have a blast checking out the wrecked trimarin at one end of beach and the old military landing craft beached at other end .

The newest and biggest thing to hit Great Guana is the Baker's Bay resort at northern tip of Great Guana . All sorts of celebrity members and a Fazio designed course , even mere underlings can put in on a boat and tie up for lunch / dinner or just drinks . Place is empty now and may be a financial bust so see it while its open to public ( http://www.bakersbayclub.com/ )

“Island Paradise”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

Went for a birthday celebration with 6 family members. Rented a house through VRBO (Top Shelf). This is not an island for everyone-if you need constant stimulation, lots of restaurants and nightlife, look somewhere else. It is exactly what I was looking for and expected-beautiful water, friendly people, a couple of great beach bars and lost of relaxation.
We were at Nippers for New Years eve. This should be on a list of things to experience before you die. The atmosphere, Cold drinks, huge crowd, dancing and the fireworks at midnight on the beach were amazing.
Grabbers is great (good pizza) .great people and. Great place to watch the sunset.
Baker's Bay for dinner was the best restaurant experience and prices are not out of line. You'll need a golf cart and reservations.
The highlight (and everyone should do this if you are renting a house) Forrest Pinder is an exceptional local chef. He came to our house one evening and prepared a wonderful dinner, locally grown or caught. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, worthy of fine dining establishments in any major city. All prepared by him and his assistant, Josh.
He can be reached by email at forrestpinder@hotmail.com. If he's on the island and you can arrange it, do it!!!
