La Casa Cottage Resort
Ranked #1 of 1 South Fintry B&B and Inns

Went to the Resort with friends and had a wonderful time. So many activities to do...we kayaked, wine toured, hiked, sat at the pool and played in the lake. We had a fire and roasted marshmallows along with our wine! The restaurant had magnificent lake views and the margaritas were like none we had ever experienced. We couldn't get the bartender to part with the recipe but we tried! The food and service was five star! We loved the little golf cart we got to tool around on. The cottages are something out of a story tale, very clean and beautifully furnished. We plan on making it a yearly tradition now!

La Casa turned out to be a very different kind of resort thats for sure. If you are looking for a place to relax, do outdoor activities and reconnect with friends and family and even yourself then this is the perfect resort . But if you are looking for a place to party and go shopping, this is not the resort for you and you will be disappointed. The resort is out of town but has a small market and nice restaurant. The cottage we stayed in was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed and we only brought our food and clothes. The deck was large and the view of the lake was amazing. We swam, kayaked in lake, layed in the sun, had leisurly breakfasts, played tennis and mini golf, hiked and we talked and talked. There were miles and miles of hiking trails behind the resort where we were able to hike and picnic without running into swarms of people. There were some ATV's but they were no bother. We bought ice cream cones every evening at the little market and just sat looking at the lake like nothing else mattered. Definitely rent a golf cart while you are there.. it is fun and makes it easier to get around. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did learn though, that there are many different companies and individuals renting cottages at La Casa, so a bad experience in one cottage doesn't necessarily mean the whole resort is bad. Be careful who you rent from.

In the summer of 2009, a forest fire near this resort resulted in the cancellation of our trip. We had paid over $3,000 in advance for this payment. At first La Casa promised to refund our money, but then refused to do so for no stated reason. Consequently, we expect it will be necessary to sue the organization in order to recover our money.

Basically, the place is not finished being built. No telephone in the room and no cell phone reception - dangerous! You have to walk down to the reception building to get any information... and then have to deal with staff who are clueless, rude and have attitude to spare. Oh... there are so many things...dead cockroaches in the room, patio furniture was in the middle livingroom when we arrived and had to be moved out to the patio. Oh yeah! And the water was not turned on - so no running water. Also no working television and unfinished electrical (wires hanging out of the ceiling). We didn't stay long enough to check out the beach and pool. For $250/night we were not not impressed.

I have read the other reviews for this resort and have to disagree. We also went whilst the fires were still burning but kept ourself informed using an Itouch which picked up la casas internet. We were lucky to have television in our unit but was also offered dvds to rent or but in the shop. The morning a new fire broke out nearby the management informed us straightaway but luckily we did not have to evacuate. We feel the staff and management went out of their way to make sure we had a great holiday and both our girls aged 9 and 13 had a great time. We agree that the road into Kelowna was quite a trek but a friend had prewarned us. We thought the accommodation was excellent and was fortunate enough to have two full bathrooms and an outstanding view.
This is a new resort and the as such is still developing. The swimming pool was adequate for us and we always had enough chairs. We believe that the plan is to build a further two. We also used the tennis courts and our children loved the golf buggies which you can hire. The management here were eager to hear our views and we have no doubt that they will continue to strive to introduce new facilities. We went to La Casa through Interval World Timeshare and it was advertised as a new member resort which often indicates that the resort may not be completed. There is a restaurant here that offers good food where we ate on several occasions.

We arrived at La Casa 2 days before the fire started on Terrace Mountain. We could not believe that these luxury cottages had no TV, phone or Wifi. We had to go up to the reception area to use the internet, and the lack of phone in the cottages is ridiculous - we had to walk or drive to the main office to find out any information, not a short walk either and the road is steep.

There is a large flat screen TV in the lounge - but you could only play DVD's on it - which you can buy from the shop - $10 each!! You can't even rent them - and the stock they had was old stuff!!

The resort itself is nice. They have 2 tennis courts which we used. The pool tended to get very busy, and there were not enough chairs. The beach was fab - they had a slide in the water, and a trampoline. We made use of those, and we hired kayaks one day and went out on the lake - just beautiful. The restaurant - Zocalo's - served nice food, we went there twice.

However, the lack of phone and TV meant that we did not know we were to be evacuated - I had turned on a clock radio and found out that way! We packed as fast as we could. My husband went into the main office to complain and the manager said that they had already informed everyone in the cottages. How did they miss us??? We had not been told at all!!! A phone would have been ideal at this point!!!

The resort itself is a long way from Kelowna - it took us at least 30 minutes to get down to the bridge in Kelowna and another 10 to get into Kelowna itself. We didn't not know it was so far out.

The cottages are well equipped inside, but only 1 full bathroom, could do with another for a family of 4. The management have let themselves down in the lack of major mod cons - TV Phone wifi - which is a shame as this resort it not cheap!!!

We were Mum, Dad, 2 teenage daughters and a pair of 80yr old inlaws. We were booked in the beach club (best on the property). The cottage was nicely finished and comfortable with a large deck out front and a hardly useable one in the back. Although our cottage was the closest on the property to the beach, because the development is built on a steep slope toward the lake, we were still 50yds above the lake level and a long walk to what amounted to a small graded gravel beach. Bring your own chairs if you plan on sitting there for any length of time. The property is not designed for anyone with mobility issues or the elderly - even if you shell out for the best cottage in the development. There were many other issues like inadequate parking, indifferent front office staff, walkout level of cottage was not finished, etc but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume these are because it's a new development.
Unfortunately, early in our stay we were evacuated due to the wildfires. Their level of customer service will be put to the test as we pursue a)a refund, and b) the retrieval of our property left behind.
