“Fun seeing people jump”

It is fun to see people jump from the bridge. It all get spoiled when you see a mall next to the bridge and a ugly trail along the canyon. It could be a great place but it got overgrown by the ugly Twin Falls.

Easy to park and see. Paved trails make it accessible to all. The lookouts give you a great vantage point to see it all. And it's great fun to watch all the jumpers.

Take a short detour from I-84 into Twin Falls to see a breathtaking site of the Perrine Bridge and from the Perrine Bridge. The Snake River Canyon is 486 feet below and the panoramic view of the canyon and countryside is spectacular.

The "More" includes an interesting Visitor Information Center with people and memorabilia that reveal the sites of the area including past and present events. The Perrine Bridge is the only place in the U.S. where BASE jumping is allowed 24/7. BASE is an acronym for jumping Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges) and Earth (cliffs). People jumped off the bridge with parachutes while we were there and others were folding their chutes for another jump. Wow!

Also significant is that Evel Knievel made what turned out to be his famous yet unsuccessful jump of the Snake River Canyon (1974) a short distance from here. A man who watched Evel jump pointed out the existing mound at the canyon rim where Evel took off in his rocket. A monument is dedicated to Evel on the Visitor Information Center grounds.

This unplanned stop ended up being a highlight of our trip. It could be for you, too.

View of the canyon is impressive. Span of bridge, for Idaho, was also impressive. Great place to take a break from driving.

We stopped at the visitor center to look at the canyon and got lucky enough to watch four jumpers jump off the bridge. Very cool. The view from the paved trail is beautiful. Don't miss it.
