We decided to stay at the Oude Herberg Hotel for an overnight stop en route to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It was very reasonable so werent sure what to expect. We were met by the owner Linda who made us welcome and showed us to our room which led off the long balcony overlooking the garden, and which was really beautifully decorated considering the price we were paying. We were shown the comunal kitchen which we could use for self catering and she brought a braai into the front garden so we could make a fire to cook our meat. It was a beautiful oasis in the desert with beautiful lawn and tables and chairs on which to relax under the trees. It is a very old building with wooden floors that used to be a boarding school for girls many years ago. In the morning we enjoyed the farmhouse breakfast with other guests around a large round diningroom table in the breakfast room. We were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our short stopover. Although they dont serve dinner, this can be taken at the Kenhardt Hotel which have an a la carte menu at very reasonable prices and which other guests enjoyed. We will definitely stay here again when passing through Kenhardt.
