“Thank heavens Sunday Brunch is Back”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

One of the biggest mistakes the resort made last year was stopping Sunday Brunch! I have just heard that it is back on the schedule this year, and we will be going on Sunday!

“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed December 23, 2013

Anyone who knows about skiing generally or the history of skiing is likely to have heard of Sun Valley. So when I had the opportunity of taking an apartment here for Christmas week I jumped at it. As I presently live in Edmonton that is a 18 hour drive over two days. I'm afraid it wasn't worth the effort. Bald mountain (maybe so called because it has NO snow?), was devoid of any natural snow. The skiing was all on man made snow down narrow steep chutes. As is normal with artificial snow it was far icier than the real stuff. The lift pass cost per day listed on the web site was $69. At the desk it was $105 !!!. For the VERY limited skiing available this was outrageous. Bald mountain is a very small ski area even if all lifts and trails are open. If you live within a couple of hours drive it may be worth coming for a weekend but it definitely is not worth a weeks holiday here, if skiing is your main interest. I know we are in a weather dependant sport but even allowing for the vagaries of the weather this was a real disappointment. The River Run Lodge at the base is a very good space with nice seating and a good atmosphere. The town of Ketchum seems to be also on a downward slide with many empty business buildings and lots of properties for sale. It seems to have seen better days. I wonder if the Bob83340 review is from an employee of the Ketchum tourist office? or surely someone with a vested interest in promoting the place.

the most expensive skiing in my life. Really bad man made snow. one inch of snow on the valley bottom. do not bring any good skies. cost almost one hundred dollars to ski half day on dollar at discounted rates with my 5 year old. 100 dollars a day on baldy for man made ice. At those prices who can ski there. I hope Sun Valley turns it around. get some people skiing that are under 67 .

“under the radar just how we like it!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

I live here so I'm a little reluctant to share the wealth, but... Come and enjoy the best ski mountain in the west, with dependable snow (best snow making set up in the country) and tremendous resort and in town après ski amenities. Great dining and entertainment with new non-stop flights to SFO joining SEA, SLC and LAX this December. The resort has something for everyone, and has been the favorite of outdoorspeople who know since the first chair lift in the world was installed in the 1930's! Customer service is the name of their game, both at the resort and on the mountain so you won't be disappointed. The on mountain equipment is all new now including a new gondola, and there is NEVER a line at the lifts. You can see the hill from the resort and its a 5 minute drive to the base area - grab the ski shuttle and forget about getting a car, and there's no winding your way up some crazy access road! Great on mountain gourmet food and beverage facilities at the fantastic day lodges.

“My Favorite Place”
Reviewed October 22, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Sun Valley has been my second home for 37 years. There is no place like it. It's a great place for couples and families. Yes, it is hard to get to...that's what makes it special.
