“Five star setting”

As mentioned in other notes, the place has duplexes with cement blocks. But after managing expectations, it is quite fine. The Salmon River a few feet away and the mountains straight behind that, are spectacular. The innkeeper hangs all the sheets out to dry in the sun - how eco friendly. A trip advisor review a few years ago mentioned bedbugs and she said that problem is long gone with regular inspections and treatments. She offered to show me the paperwork, but I declined and believed her. It was cool in our room since it was in the 40s and I was pleased that the little heater was accurate and didn't give out too much heat, and so quiet, we didn't even know it was on. Just a short walk away, is a gravel road leading to some great hiking - the Nip and Tuck trails with fantastic views from the top. The Redwood Cabins were a good choice for us for two nights.

I am writing on behalf of an Idaho family who has been coming to the Redwood Cabins for more than 10-years. We now live out of state and do our best to come for a week every summer and when feasible a weekend in the fall. We have special memories here. Every day you see the Sawtooth's and have the river at your back door. The cabins are comfortable and well maintained, You can select cabins with or without kitchens. We find have a kitchen really lends itself to eating what you want and on your schedule. You also can become acquainted with other guests when you are grilling outside on the new patio. It is adult camping with all the creature comforts of home. Yes the cabins are simple and not made of wood--but they are all you need. You are in the wilderness. (If you want a 4-seasons hotel experience stay in a city.) The owners have been most accommodating and really know the area and its many offerings. We have fun trading tennis ball tosses with their wonderful yellow lab when on the property.

Room Tip: They are very busy in July and August. So come earlier or later in the season and you can have more...

This was my first time at Redwood Cabins and I enjoyed my stay. They aren't made from Redwood and there are no Redwoods near, so I'm not sure why they are named Redwood, but it's a nice rustic getaway. The cabins aren't exactly cabins. They are more like a semi-circle of 7 old cement block motorcourt rooms with 2 rooms to a "cabin" with the back of the owner's house just across from them and the river out back.

The accommodations are very basic, just a bed and a bathroom. The rooms are obviously old but they are reasonably clean. There are no tvs or phones, but nobody comes to Stanley to watch TV. The river is just out back with a beautiful view of the mountains. My only real complaint is that we had some stuck windows and it was a little warm since it was August and there is no A/C. Other than that, we were satisfied with our stay. It's definitely not a rustic redwood cabin, but if you need a room on the river, this is a good place to stay.

There is something magical about this place. Through the years my family and i have taken a 9 day yearly trip at these cabins for fishing, hiking and relaxing. Even after 9 days it still feels like not enough time to take it all in. I learned how to fly fish right out the back of these cabins and have taught my girl how to do the same.
The owners and staff have been nothing less then amazing to us. We are already booked to stay there again next year and I cant wait.
Absolutely love this place.

I have stayed at Redwood Cabins at least four or five times over a period of years. My most recent stay in August, 2012 was very pleasant. New features this year include a covered outdoor pavillion for dining, updated efficient gas grills, and very comfortable outdoor furnishings on the riverside. Owners and the staff were always pleasant and helpful While there is no TV or phone, who needs it in such a beautiful setting. Wireless internet service was a new addition last year, and worked very well for me this year.

Our family group had seven of thirteen cabins rented for several days and a wonderful time was had by all! Larry O.

Room Tip: Rooms with kitchens are pretty handy if you plan to be in Stanley for a few days. Dining opportunit...

My family has stayed at the Redwood Cabins for many years and have found them to be wonderful and charming..
You are in Lower Stanley on the Salmon River with one of the best views of the Sawtooth Mountains in the whole valley!! Management has been sincere and accomodating ..all you have to do is ask...
This is not a four star resort, this is a nice place to wind down, enjoy the views, fish, raft, hike, bike, and just become human again...We have found the rooms and bathrooms to be clean..Behind the cabins are BBQ's. chairs, lounges, and a covered patio area..Enjoy the views, cook you super, have a beverage, talk with other guests, review the day with your family, friends and guests...
If you are looking for the major resort experience ..go somewhere else..If you want peacefulness and serenity among good people, this is the spot...
