Spent three nights here. Great location with a million dollar view. We stayed on the third floor...found it very quiet. Each room has a balcony or patio...we enjoyed sitting there with a glass of wine and the incredible view of the lake and mountains. The Trinity restaurant next to the BW is excellent. We had four meals there and loved it . Don't miss the corn chowder with crayfish and bacon. The beach is just out the door and you can walk to dozens of restaurants downtown. We will be back.

While traveling to and from Alberta, Canada over the last 2 weeks we stayed at Best Western all of the way. This particular one we were really looking forward to staying at because of the view of the lake/beach and we were willing to pay more than double any other BW we stayed at along the way. The view was nice. The draw backs were: 1) the air conditioner was loud and cycled onb and off all night; 2) there was no screen door on the sliding door to allow some cool fresh air during the day or night; 3) the bathroom was so small that you couldn't turn around in it to undress to take a shower; 4) the restaurant did not open until 7:30 AM for breakfast nor did they have a Continental breakfast like the other BW so we had to find the one restaurant in towbn that was open for breakfast. All in all, for the price, it was not worth the nice view. It was too warm in the room to sleep.

Room Tip: Pay the high price

After reviewing several critical remarks I decided to check them out on this location, while visiting friends in the area. I am not sure where some of these folks stayed while in Sandpoint, or who the the uncaring employees were - but it certainly was not here. From our arrival (a little early) a friendly employee Welcomed us, and provided us with a great room with a wonderful lake view. Yes, it is located near RR tracks and we are light sleepers but they certainly never disturbed our rest. Yes, we ate at the restaurant and while a little "pricey" it would not "out of reach" for most folks for a fine meal. The internet signal was easily found and provided good service. All, in all - we enjoyed our stay at this location, and enjoyed the fantastic view and relaxing time. Based on our stay we certainly would recommend this location to most folks.

Room Tip: ask for second or third floor with a water view.

My family is awake at 3 a.m. because of noise from partying loud young adults yelling in the hallway. This has been going on all night. I finally opened my door and yelled at them and they quieted down. We are staying in the closest room to the hotel front desk and I have a difficult time believing the front desk can't hear them. I called the front desk to complain and the empoohed basically dismissed me and denied the noise was happening. We are staying in a suite that cost over $200 and this is unacceptable.

We have been through Sandpoint a number of times but this time it was a destination 5-day trip for my wife and I. Although more expensive than other options for motels, we found the location right on the beach worth the extra. Check in was fast, friendly and efficient.

We had a room on the second floor, All rooms face the lake. First floor rooms open up onto the grass between the beach, great for people with kids coming and going to the beach although perhaps not so private. Second floor rooms have a very private balcony with a small table and a couple chairs, great for relaxing and reading, evening cocktails, etc.

The rooms were recently renovated and I found them extremely clean and well appointed. Very comfortable beds and beddings, Flat screen TV, free wired or wireless internet. Sink area smaller, but is marble. Smallish toilet / bath-shower room but suitable.

All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The attached restaurant is excellent and always busy with visitors and locals. Has a great deck overlooking the lake.

Yes, the train and soon the new highway bypass is right behind the hotel but we never found the sounds to bother us. The trains slow right down and there is an enclosed hallway between the hotel exterior and the door of your room. We slept with our veranda sliding door open every night and yes could hear the trains but never woke us up. It is the price one pays in many lake resort towns to be close to the water as the trains were there first.

The location of the hotel can not be beat (except for the train tracks), being right on the beach and adjacent to the city park. A two minute walk into town and there are plenty of great restaurants and bars within a block or two. If you are just passing through town and looking for a place to crash, there are perhaps more economical alternatives. But if you are staying for a few days and want to enjoy the beach and lake views, this is the place to stay.
