Maybe not the "see and be seen" ski resort, but this place has the nicest people and best value for your money. Let alone that the mountain and runs are excellent. Its clean down home feel is what I imagine a lot of the nice resorts used to feel like before they got too big and overrun with people. These guys appreciate your business and demonstrate that appreciation every day.

Having skied at various resorts early in the season in the West throughout the years, this resort stands as one of my favorites. I look forward to going when the season is in full swing; small crowds, friendly staff, great accomadations.

Room Tip: I stayed at the main lodge (Selkirk?) on the slope side on the top floor. Beautiful view of the mou...

We stayed at The White Pine Lodge, part of the Schweitzer Mountain Resort Lodging. We had a one bedroom condo which was 5 steps to the ski slopes, absolutely quiet, hot tubs and hot pools, free hot breakfast every day across at the Chimney Ridge Grill (7am till a leisurely 10am), impeccably furnished, serviced every other day, a theatre, DVDs to loan for free and fantastic staff to help you. We booked this place when we got here when other accommodation did not work out...this could have been a disaster and we were planning on leaving. Jason at the front desk did everything to help us and organised this great place. So, if you are thinking of skiing Schweitzer (and you should - amazing mountain and no crowds except on MLK weekend and then 10 minute maximum wait this is the place to stay. We are definately returning with friends. And if you do visit, don't miss out on night skiing, hosted snow shoeing hikes, the flare run and fireworks, wine tasting at Gourmandie and the skiing without crowds.

Room Tip: All are great - one side has views to Lake Pend Orielle and the other side overlooks the village and...

Last season we had a nice vacation in Colorado. This past month we discovered Schweitzer. Talk about getting good value for your money! We stayed in the mountain village and absolutely loved it! Be sure to ask for a mountain view room to best experience the magic of the mountain locale. We'll definitely be back!

Took our teenage sons here in August while checking out Idaho colleges. Absolutely beautiful and quiet during this time of year. We had a family suite at the timeshare lodge with 2 bedrooms, two baths, small kitchen and living/dining area on an upper level. The balcony faced the lake and we woke to breathtaking sunrises and ended the day with equally amazing sunsets. You could see forever... Nice to be able to sit outside and take in the views. There is a workout facility and hot tubs where we stayed. The outdoor pool is at the Selkirk just across the village plaza..
FOOD: For a small mountain village, there is plenty available. We ate at the friendly pub the first night, located in the village. Good for burgers and decent selection of local microbeer. There is also a deli and wine shop with a good selection of gourmet food and wine which we enjoyed. You can pack some snacks for your hike. The restaurant in the Selkirk Lodge is also good featuring a little more upscale food. And for those like me who can't go to far without a place for latte's and breakfast fare, they have it as well. You can venture down to Sandpoint for more restaurants-many to choose from.
THINGS TO DO: Tons...We hiked, shopped, drove to the Lake, you can ride horses, ride the chair lift, mountain bike and just enjoying the crazy views from trails all over the mountain. There were also structured kid activities for the younger set that were managed through the mountainside activity center. Your younger kids may want to take the drive to the amusement/water park near Hayden. We were there during the berry festival which a big local celebration with events at Schweitzer and Sandpoint including a berry pancake feed at the Village, kid activities, mountain bike races, and big name concerts in Sandpoint. In the evening, you can wind down as you sit outside the village deli in adirondak chairs with a glass of wine overlooking the village square.
THE ROOM: Our room was spacious and clean, had a mountain feel with two bedrooms-one with queen bunk beds and the other with a queen bed. The beds were average in comfort, but our room was very noisy between the portable airconditoner and the construction below us as the trucks and equipment started early in the morning. The kitchen had all we needed, the living area had just enough seating for watching a movie, which you can rent DVD's from the main lodge. The bathrooms were slate and good sized. Our internet worked for the few times we checked in...
OVERALL: We definintely will come back! Would love to ski this mountain, but a little hard to get to-a long drive. Certainly a place to come and take in it's incredible, breathtaking beauty (this from a Seattleite and one who lived in Park CIty) and get away from it all. Staff is very friendly, people love living in this place and it spills over into how they treat you : ). Summer rates are very reasonable on the travel sites. Great place for family trip! Happy and memorable experience with our kids....

Although the room was small, it was well appointed. The balcony overlooking the hill and the clock tower gave us a sense of being part of the action, even apris-ski. The updated heater worked very well and had an auto shut off. The comfortable beds made it hard to get moving!
Restaurants in the Selkirk Lodge provided great menu selections for us all. Continental Bfast hit the spot before we hit the hills.I would definately recommend it!

Room Tip: Ask for Balcony; don't get 4th floor close to pool access.

We purchased the "Xmas package". This mountain and its lodging (Selkirk Lodge) was incredible. Skiing was fantastic - variety of terrain perfect. Great for the intermediate to advanced skier. Excellent food on the hill...Cool hot tub/pool setting. Cute little Swiss vibe to the resort itself. 5/5. We will return with our friends next time...

Room Tip: Even the beds were so comfortable - tempurapedic perhaps?
