“Western Pleasure Guest Ranch very pleasurable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

We went to stay overnight at the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch near Sandpoint, ID and were struck by the beauty of the place and the comfortable, western themed accomodations. Although we stayed in the large, beautiful main lodge, upstairs, they do have about 5 cabins on the property that we would like to try next time. Our stay did not include dinner, but it did include a hot breakfast, which was tasty and plentiful. Since it is located rather remotely from town, we decided to stop and bring some picnic stuff, such as cheeses, breads, crackers, fruit, cookies and of course wine!! to have for our dinner, rather than drive back into town. WE sat out on the front porch and enjoyed the views while we snacked. The owner provided us with wine glasses and plates etc. for our picnic, so that made it easy.
They have about 40 horses available for trail rides, which we did not partake in this time. We are both horse people, but the price of $55 per person to ride was a little more than we wanted to spend at that time, but perhaps next time we will, as there is some beautiful country to ride through in that area. In the lodge there is a rec room downstairs, which had a pool table, so we played several games of pool, and there was a large screen TV with movies you could watch, and upstairs was a checkers table set up, so we enjoyed several games of checkers too. All in all, we would definately recommend this ranch for a nice, different get away, some peace and quiet and to get closer to nature, which is always good for the soul!

Room Tip: The rooms did not have any king sized beds, just queen, but don't know about the cabins, as we d...

Our stay at Western Pleasure was beyond excellent. The location is absolutely beautiful. I experienced something that I have not had in decades.... complete peace and quiet. It was so relaxing and refreshing. Janice and Roley (the owners) and Barb (staff) made us feel like we were family. They offered great tips on where to go/see that went along with what we were looking for on our day trips. The property is large and very well maintained. You can rent a private cabin or stay in the lodge. We stayed in the lodge and loved it. The cabins looked awesome! We had great, hearty breakfasts each day. The ranch offers trail riding, I spent time outside just petting their sweet horses. We hiked along trails through their property and soaked in the beauty and serenity. While there we saw deer, wild turkeys, and a snow hare, all within the yard area. I absolutely fell in love with everything about Western Pleasure and I thank Janice and Roley for providing such a incredible place. My favorite place I have ever stayed! Added note, my husband and I were traveling alone this time, if you have children this would be a great family vacation. Definitely highly recommend. We will be back!!

A friend and I have been coming out to Western Pleasure Guest Ranch this winter for the Cross Country Skiing and just love the location. The trails have been well groomed and the views from the trails are spectacular. But we got something that we didn't expect and that was the great friendship of the staff at the guest ranch. Every time we leave we say we can't wait to come back. Thank you Western Pleasure for all the wonderful visits!

The Western Pleasure Guest Ranch has partnered with Sandpoint Nordic Ski Club to groom Nordic ski trails on their property. There is a 4.5 mi gentle hill climb and a 2 mi mostly flat tour around a large field. Tracks had been set on the flat trail, but even without tracks the Big Hill trail is good for classic nordic skiing. We had a beautiful ski day, trails are quiet and uncrowded.
This was a nice alternative to the ski resort trail system, and a good place for beginners.

This was our third visit to the ranch to hire a cutter horse sleigh ride in celebration of my wife's and I's 37th wedding anniversary. I will never tire of the the sleigh ride through just a small portion of their 1100 acre ranch and view the diverse forest that they beautifully steward. The lodge is made of huge logs and grande and the owners and staff make you feel right at home. They have beautiful outside cabins and rooms inside the lodge as well. They grow their own meat for use in the meals they serve in the lodge. I can imagine a stay here in the summer to explore the ranch on horseback! Highly recommended......

We had the most incredible day of cross country skiing at Western Pleasure Ranch. It was a glorious, sunny day when we arrived at this beautiful setting in the wilderness. We met friendly "grandma" Janice who was babysitting her two grandchildren in the spectacular lodge. She answered all of our questions and allowed us to check out one of the empty cabins. Wow! If anyone wants a very reasonable getaway, this is the place to go!! The start of cross country trails are just a 3 min. drive from the lodge. The scenery along the 2 mile trail loop is incredible with views of Schweitzer, creeks, mountains and open fields of untouched snow (except for moose tracks?). When you finish cross country skiing, drop by the lodge for coffee and popcorn. We will definitely return! Germaine and Murray, Cranbrook, BC

We are impromptu travelers and often travel without much in the way of advance reservations. On a recent trip back to Seattle from Montana we decided we wanted to spend a couple of days in beautiful Northern Idaho. We found the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch on line and were lucky enough to score one of the sweet log cabins on the property. The place is absolutely beautiful and the boss lady was a perfect host; staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I ride at guest ranches quite often and the guest horses at this ranch were not only well trained but also well groomed and a real pleasure to ride. The delicious meals and great fun around the table never failed to make me happy. Our short stay was truly a Western Pleasure and we will definitely return. This guest ranch is top shelf. Jan Dyer
