I took friends and family on the Middle Fork of the Salmon in August 2011. We immediately began planning a return trip. The river is amazing with dozens of rapids, amzing scenery, multiple ecosystems and pristine wilderness. But it is Al, Jeana and the Solitude River Trips team that made the journey a trip of a lifetime. Al's knowledge of the lure and the lore of the Middle Fork is larger than life. The side trips to hot springs, historic camps and homesteader cabins were all amazing. Al's guides are all first rate -- as boatmen, storytellers, cooks and companions. Did I mention the food? Each day brought new culinary delights but Al's Fried Chicken probably edged out the thick cut steaks -- barely! The beer and wine were cold and the ice for stronger drinks was plentiful. Thanks to a massive sweep boat that goes first in the AM with all but day gear -- you really cannot believe those guys take it through the rapids -- you arrive in camp with tents set up, bags and pads unrolled. All you have to do is find a chair near the bar. We hope to return this summer with family and more friends to introduce them to the joys of the Salmon with Solitude. Whether you are a first time wilderness rafter or a seasoned pro, Solitude is the way to go. Randy Scheunemann, Whitefish, MT

Howdy Randy,
Nice to hear all of the wonderful words about Solitude and our crew of arguably the best guides on the Middle Fork. Yes, our food is outstanding, but it is the guides and the call of the Middle Fork that keeps folks coming back. Many thanks for spreading the word to other people about the Middle Fork and Solitude. We look forward to sharing the river with you and your friends once again.

My first float trip with Al and Jeana was in highschool and family and I have continued to float with them over the years. They have wonderful fishing and rafting guides whether you are a veteran or novice. You cannot help but be impressed by their skill in rowing hand-made wooden drift boats on the a classic wilderness float. Their gourmet river cuisine is beyond belief. I would highly recommend their services to anyone interested in a multi-day float trip.

Our week long rafting trip was a trip of a lifetime, but one we intend to repeat. Besides the pristine beauty of the landscape and the meticulous attention to detail of the entire staff of guides, the experience taught us a lot about ourselves. Specifically, you can't run the middle fork of the Salmon River river without learning something about the depth of your own nature and the force of your own character.

We have taken this trip twice, once in the fall with just fisherman and once in summer with out entire family, some fishing and some just rafting. Both trips were amazing. The fishing is great, Al and Jeana & their staff are fantastic, you could not ask for better. I would do it again and have recommended it to all my friends.

Dwight,
Kind words about not only Solitude but the Middle Fork. Its people like you that keep coming back and also mentioning us to your friends that keeps us going. To have you say we are "Simply the Best" says a lot about what you think of not only Jeana and I but also our guides and the great place we get to work in.

The title says it all! Nothing is overlooked while floating with Solitude, from the chilled wine to fresh bedding and everything else in between. Travel logistics couldn't be easier to such a wild and scenic destination. The cuisine is unbeatable. As a beginner fly fisherman I was naturally initially hesitant, but after the first 20 minutes I was hooked on numerous fish and the whole experience!
