“Great service and stay!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

I stayed one night with Barb and Walt and felt like I had stopped at a relatives house. My initial greeting from Barb was so heart felt and warm and check in was a breeze. I stayed in room 105, the "Cowboy Room". All the rooms have a theme associated with them.
Entering the room the first thing I noticed was the cleanliness of the room then the large mural painted above the bed of cowboys on horseback. The floor is hard wood. The bed was comfortable, I would rate it more on the firm side. The bathroom is small and only had a shower, although friends in a different room did have a bath tub. So if you would like a tub ask for a room that has one. Some may criticize the size of the room but for a couple it was more than enough. If you have children my understanding is they have larger rooms with two beds.
The room was cooled by a small A/C unit which did the job for me. The room was also quite, I had guests on both sides of me and never heard a sound from them.
It is an older Inn, but they are upgrading as they go.
They have a breakfast that is served for $3.00 and has 2 eggs served any way you like, 2 pieces of bacon or sausage and potatoes. They also have a cold breakfast available, juice and coffee. The breakfast is cooked by the owners and they take great pride in greeting you and wishing you a good morning.
I highly recommend staying at the Inn if your going to Salmon. You get great service and the feeling of small town America here at the Inn.

Room Tip: Room 105 is the Cowboy room and would be great for couples!

When calling for a reservation, and the gal said "hope you are in time for dinner" we thought ???? Local motel, clean and a bit quaint with local wall murals. Staff was awesome, and other guests gathered on porches or around firepits for a visit. There was dinner...included yet. A thin but good steak on the BBQ and real homemade sides. Breakfast at the same cookshack that was cheap, fresh and very good. A memorable stay for people who want to feel welcome and rub shoulders with other low-key travelers.

We had the pleasure to stay here for a week. The owners are very accommodating in every way. And when they say they are " dog friendly " they aren't kidding. They are truly dog lovers. Will stay no where but here when we stay in Salmon. And the $3.00 breakfast is great.

Barb and Walter go above and beyond to make your stay an enjoyable event. From the clean and comfy rooms to the incredible made to order breakfast for only $3, you will be taken care of. But a particularly rare bonus is how they went out of their way to assist me after a motorcycle breakdown! Not their problem at all but they helped anyway. These are good people and their property shows it!

And Salmon is a great town for your base in beautiful area of the country.

Walter and Barbara are simply wonderful "old school" hosts. They really care about their guests, and you get the feeling you are staying with friends. The rooms are uniquely decorated with a flair for local history and custom. I wouldn't think staying anywhere else in Salmon. The town is quintessential small town America and worth exploring. The Savage Grill, another family owned business, is a 5-minute walk from the Inn and a favorite for locals. Don't... I repeat... DO NOT miss breakfast at the Inn.

The Good: Pet friendly, clean, respectable 3.00 breakfast, nice owners, low nightly rate, very nice original artwork murals in room.

The Bad: Tiny rooms, horrendous old decrepit (although clean) showers.

This place is an old tourist lodge with very small rooms. It is clean, and the owners are very nice. If I could I would give it a 3.5 not 4.

Hint: replacing torn screens is pretty easy. Get a splining tool, buy some new screen and spline and you can do it yourself.

Stayed only one night, but the room and especially the bed was very comfy. The $3 made to order breakfast is a real deal and the owner is extremely friendly and hospitable. Would strongly recommend this motel.
