“beautiful, quiet hotel overlooking the river”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

we stayed one night at the Red Lion in June, 2013. We arrived at 4 p.m. and our room was not quite ready due to a large crowd the night before; but the desk staff were kind and personable and upgraded us to a suite. The hotel sits in a residential area away from traffic and is quiet and very comfortable. You can walk down to the river behind the hotel. We didn't use the boats and the riverboat cruise wasn't operating that night, but it's beautiful and relaxing. The hotel restaurant overlooks the river as well, and the food was wonderful.

Room Tip: make sure to request a river view room. There is a small deck outside where you can sit and enjoy y...

Staying here one night, the front desk supervisor is not friendly. Does not make u very feel welcome. The dinner was ok..overpriced. Nachos terrible for $10! It was a jar of cheese sauce poured over a bag of chips. My daughter (3 yr old) burned her hand under the sink as the cold was actually scalding hot & the hot was cold (was the same in men's & women's bathroom).they said they would give 20% disc. We r calling the manager.

When visiting such a beautiful place it's hard to complain. However I do have a few complaints along with a few compliments.
1. Room wasn't cleaned and ready even at 7pm check in.
2. My key didn't work and all I wanted was to unload not load up baby and trek all the way back to front lobby again.

Plus side:
1. Marina was awesome. A bit expensive for boat rental I think considering the old pontoon boat we rented.
2. Decent restaurant connected to hotel is always convenient.
3. They will let you park an RV overnight pretty cheaply. No hook ups or connections of course.

You get what you pay for and I don't feel ripped off:)

We were traveling with our two small dogs, who are great travelers. We found the check in process easy and the staff very friendly and helpful. The staff made us feel we had made the right choice. Location is good: next to the river marina. The room was very nice and comfortable. We ate two meals in the restaurant and found the food good and the service adequate but slow. We would most definitely stay here again.

This hotel has gone down hill over the last few years. It's only redeeming quality is the private beach area with access to the lake. However, do not come on a rainy day or you will see just how disgusting the hotel is.
The pool has dirt and sediment at the bottom, the hot tub is too hot to even get into, the vending machines have old outdated food, there are no video games in the vending room despite it saying so, the restaurant is HORRIBLE. I ordered a shrimp cocktail for 11 dollars and it came loaded full of tiny FROZEN shrimp and when I bit into it I got a mouth full of ice.
Neither of the phones in our room worked, and when I brought up all the issues I had with the hotel they front desk gal merely took 40 dollars of of my TWO HUNDRED dollar room charge. Don't ever stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

Faced the river on the first floor. That part was nice. Another reviewer described the tiny balcony, so I won't go into that. My complaint was the noise! Had a baby next door. Through an adjoining "lockout door" with a large gap underneath, I could hear everything! Due to the thin walls and doors, the baby might as well been in our room. Also the guy above us kept pacing back and forth. Many of the doors will slam very loudly when let go. Either fixing the door closers or posting signs for customers to not slam will help. Slamming will be most apparent early in the am when patrons leave their rooms and let the doors fly closed. I did not try the restaurant.

Room Tip: Ceiling is thin. Top floor might be quieter.

Great front desk crew, friendly and accommodating. We had a very nice, very clean room with a patio facing the river. We were just passing through but would consider stopping back for a longer visit. The bed and bedding were super-comfortable. The food was also very good at the restaurant attached. My husband claimed it was one of the best rib steaks he has had...and he is fussy.
