No food here. We were looking for a brew pub. Had a couple very nice IPAs and continued to forage. Looks like would good for dog people that want to get together and drink with their dogs.
Appeared to be a niche market to us.

First time we visited Laughing Dog, we too were looking for a meal. Owner Fred Colby, explained that they did not want to compete with their customers, and when we told him we wanted wings, referred us to the one pub in town that doesn't even sell his beer.. (Mick Duffs, brew their own). That's the kind of stand-up, community oriented business this is. Being a Pilsner fan, I fell in love with the 219er, an ode to the "dive bar standard" in downtown Sandpoint. Even though I can find another favorite, the Huckleberry Cream at Total Wine and More across the country... Nothing beats the fresh aroma and taste right off the tap. When we visit Sandpoint, Laughing dog is always the place I stop after a day of hiking or skiing to fill up on the always changing, always amazing and always plentiful snack mix... and a couple of beers, served by friendly and attentive (and often cute) staff. It's nice to see Laughing Dog getting the credit their wonderful craft brews deserve nationwide. A good place also to bring your well behaved dog and just let him wander and make friends.

This is a must stop place if you like beer and dogs. The beer is excellent. We tried the sampler to get a full range of their brewery offerings. There is a reason their market is expanding, the beer is very good. The staff is great and the dogs in the place really build out the experience. Great place to have a pint in the afternoon.

I love good hoppy microbrew and this is the place to get it! Order the sampler and try them all or if you are an IPA fan order Rocket Dog and Alpha Dog, the local favorites. If you like an American Pilsner then the 219 is for you. Lighter beers are Huckleberry Ale and Cream Ale. Dark Beers are Dogzilla and Dogfather, AVOID Dogfather if you have to drive...produced in brandy casks.... If it says "Imperial" in general, have someone else drive.
The only drawback to Laughing Dog......no food service, (unless it is summer and they are having a BBQ).

We headed to Sandpoint for a midweek skiing trip to Schweitzer. It was my birthday and we were in search of the fun places to eat and drink in the area. My husband brews beer and we live in a micro brewery mecca (Central Oregon), so always make it a point to find the local brew pubs whenever we travel.

We visited Mick Duff's our first night in Sandpoint. We made plans to have dinner our 2nd night at Laughing Dog Brewing. We were surprised to find that no food was served. Instead they offered dog dishes filled with "beer" appetizers. Junky, yes, but after a long day of skiing I inhaled the stuff. I couldn't even remember the last time I had cheetos!!!!!

There weren't too many people at the the pub, but a few locals trickled in over time. You almost have to be a local to find the brewery. It's not in a highly visible location. One couple brought their dogs, which are welcome to roam about in the pub. The bartender told us that a dog friendly area was the reason no food was allowed. We enjoyed petting the dogs and visiting with the locals. The beer was okay. It was disappointing that 2-3 of the IPA beer choices were not available. We would have loved to spend more money at the pub, for food, but found ourselves back downtown Sandpoint for dinner.
