Lake Monger is situated in Wembley, less than 5 km from Perth city. There is a paved walkway/bike path around the lake which is 3.5km long and takes around 30 mins to walk. A good place for bird watch...plenty of black swans and a variety of other birds. The lake is surrounded by grassed parklands with barbecue facilities and there is playground equipment for the kids. There are also exercise stations setup along the walk for those who need to burn off some energy.

Lots of room and playgrounds and bike paths. Nice lake to look at with the city in the background. Good for seeing Black Swans

We live 45 minutes from here but take the trouble to visit a few times a year, especially with overseas friends who appreciate it. Only 5 minutes by car from the Perth CBD but first call into the Fish & Chips shop in Oxford St, Leederville nearby to get your hot food. Then go to the lake and while enjoying Fish & Chips you will also enjoy up to about 30 native Black Swans cruising on the lake. Ducks also share the lake and the occasional other water bird will call by. Perfect for photos because of the lush bush backdrop and the lawns. There are small parking areas along the main drag so just pick one that has a vacancy.
