My husband and I just got back from a two day 10 year anniversary getaway at Elkins Resort. This was our first time at Elkins. My first impression driving up to the cabins was they are a little closer together than I would prefer but when we walked in, I Was pleasantly surprised. The cabin felt nice and homey, not dingy. I didn't know what to expect because there are no interior pictures of the cabin we reserved online.
We stayed in cabin #27. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, direct tv satellite, a queen bed, sofa and small dining area in the living room, a double bed and dresser in a separate bedroom, a deck with two chairs, picnic table and bbq, a hammock, beach access with wooden chairs and a fire pit.
The website states to bring beach chairs, shampoo, soap and towels in July and August as they are not provided during the summer months but when we arrived, all of these had been provided for us. They even provided wood for the fire pit.
There were a couple down sides. The pillows are hard and uncomfortable which made sleeping difficult. I plan on bringing my own pillows next time. The flyer left on our dining table showed events for a different weekend then our stay so we showed up to the bar to see the band on the wrong day. There was a live band on Friday night but our flyer said Saturday night.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at Elkins minus the uncomfortable pillows and misleading event flyer. We will be back with our kids and dogs.
