We just moved to this area and I wanted to try some of the local places. The parking lot at Los Pinos was alway full when I drove by so we gave it a try.

It is a small, privately owned business but it still had plenty of seating. There were a couple families with small children in there when we went so they are obviously family friendly. It was a tad loud because of the children and we had to speak louder than normal but that's what happens sometimes in that type of environment. So just keep in mind that if you are looking for a nice quiet place to eat dinner, it may not work out that way for you.

Our servers were very nice and very attentive throughout our entire meal. Even the chef came to make sure we were happy with everything. We never felt rushed to finish our meal so they could turn the table. It did take a little bit to get our food but there was a huge to-go order that was placed before us and was being made ahead of our meal. The chef (owner maybe?) compensated our bill a little as a way of saying "thank you for being patient". We thought that was very nice since we hadn't complained at all.

They gave us complimentary chips (with free refills), 2 types of salsa and a small bowl of refried beans before we even had our meal. The green salsa was mild and the red was hot. A little too hot for me but spicy lovers would love it. Both had really good flavor though. My husband ordered the chimichanga and I ordered the tamales with a side of pico de gallo. Both orders were large portions and well worth the price. My husband couldn't even finish his. They were both delicious and everything was homemade. No frozen, prepackaged items. My pico de gallo was also delicious. The only thing I can say was that I wish I had some sort of sauce to go with my tamales as they were just a little dry but still tasted good.

Los Pinos definitely cares about their customers satisfaction- that is clear. The service was very good (aside from being stuck behind the large to-go order), the food was good and the amount of food for the price made it a good value. The atmosphere was friendly, quaint and clean.

I would definitely recommend Los Pinos to anyone looking for good Mexican food in a family friendly environment!

I lived in Mexico and miss REAL Mexican food. This is the only place for miles (maybe states?) that I can find real chile rellenos! My hubby had the carnitas and as a non carnita lover they are GREAT!

Traveling through on vacation and hungry, we arrived at Los Pinos at about 8:30pm on the recommendation of a review from another website. At that hour we were not surprised to find an empty parking lot and restaurant.

Taking the server's advice I ordered the Sopes Carnitas which were really good - well prepared and flavorful. Reminded me of a combination of a tamale, a pupusa, and a Navako Taco. My dining companions both had the Beef Enchiladas also on the server's recommendation. One of them remarked "this is exactly like what Mexican cookbooks and high end Mexican chefs describe as being the way Mexicans make this dish at home!" She was thrilled and it tasted pretty darned good to me, too..

No Ameri-Mex cookie-cutter chain food here. Just good home cooking like mama (or in this case Grandpa) makes. Turns out our teenaged server was the granddaughter and Grandpa was cooking tonight! While we were eating several people who seemed to be "regulars" came in to pick up "to go" orders.

The only alcohol available was beer - in about 10 varieties. The dining room was clean as a whistle and the service personal and prompt. We would certainly eat here a second time if we are ever in the area again.

We were here visiting from Arizona and took a chance on this place. The outside like most places here looks very outdated but excellent food! Well worth a stop!
