If you are into horses this museum is worth an hour, but most of it is general material about the Nez Perce, Lewis and Clark and other regional things. We went because there were supposed to be some Appaloosa horses around, but, once again, their arrival had been delayed. Had we known we wouldn't have bothered to go.

You'll love it if you are interested in Appaloosa's or the Nez Perce (Nee mee poo) who bred them

This is a small but excellent museum, packed with amazing exhibits and information about the wonderful Appaloosa horse, its history and breeding. If you go in Spring and early Summer there may be several live horses in the paddock outside. We went in late August and saw one horse.

The people who run the museum work with the Nez Perce Nation to organise yearly events for Appaloosa riders and to document and maintain breeding standards through the Appaloosa Horse Club. Museum staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the exhibits.

After your visit drive to nearby Moscow for coffee, lunch or dinner. This small university town has numerous cafes and eating places and has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The Museum and Moscow make for a great day out!
