This truck stop appeared to be the only place to get breakfast for miles around. We actually had to go out of our way to find a place to eat in Montpelier, but this little side trip turned out to be a great stop. The portions here are over the top huge. They have a contest that if you can eat three of their pancakes in an hour, they are free. We ordered a western omelet and the corned beef hash with eggs sunny side up. As one of the bread choices you can order two silver dollar pancakes. I've had silver dollar pancakes, these weren't silver dollar size. They were every bit as big a a luncheon plate. They tasted great but it was way too much. The western omelet had Ortega chilies which was a nice change from bell pepper, onion and big chunks of ham. The cheese may have been Velveeta or a close cousin. I would have preferred Cheddar cheese but it was still good.

The menu offered a variety of beers at $2.75 and wine at $2.50. It was the wrong time of day for something other than coffee but it is a good indicator of how reasonable the prices are here.

Finding this restaurant was like finding a diamond in the rough. We will definitely stop again next time we are in the area.

Passing through this little town and read the dining reviews so went looking for the no. 1 restaurant - not there! So moved on to the town's no. 2 which was the Ranch Hand Trail Stop. Have to admit the truck stop setting was a little bit of a turn off, but we were hungry! As it turned out, we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - all home made. The soup was good, salad bar fresh and the burgers were big and delicious. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. All in all a most pleasing experience!

The place offers tasty home cooking and is worth a visit. There were a number of trucks in the parking area so is obviously popular with truckers too. Apparently the restaurant has won awards......

Woeking in the area someone suggested this place. Tried the chicken fried steak dinner regular size. I had trouble getting this all ate can't imagine the larger one. The meal was very good and the dinner salad was great. Friendly service and the meal came out quickly. I will definitely eat here again while working in the area.
