This truck stop appeared to be the only place to get breakfast for miles around. We actually had to go out of our way to find a place to eat in Montpelier, but this little side trip turned out to be a great stop. The portions here are over the top huge. They have a contest that if you can eat three of their pancakes in an hour, they are free. We ordered a western omelet and the corned beef hash with eggs sunny side up. As one of the bread choices you can order two silver dollar pancakes. I've had silver dollar pancakes, these weren't silver dollar size. They were every bit as big a a luncheon plate. They tasted great but it was way too much. The western omelet had Ortega chilies which was a nice change from bell pepper, onion and big chunks of ham. The cheese may have been Velveeta or a close cousin. I would have preferred Cheddar cheese but it was still good.
The menu offered a variety of beers at $2.75 and wine at $2.50. It was the wrong time of day for something other than coffee but it is a good indicator of how reasonable the prices are here.
Finding this restaurant was like finding a diamond in the rough. We will definitely stop again next time we are in the area.
