Description: Louie's Restaurant was born out of necessity in 1965. It wasn't so much that Ketchum-Sun Valley needed another restaurant. Louie Mallane, the founder and proprietor, used his Italian heritage and previous restaurant experience to fill the pizza niche in this small resort area. Living the American dream of owning your own business Louie opened up Ketchum's first Italian Restaurant. With a bank loan of $150, he purchased flour, mushrooms, napkins, and a few other necessary items. Then he rented the kitchen of Nedder's Bar and set up shop, making as many as 20 pizzas a day. Within six weeks, Louie had paid off his original loan. Six months later, he moved to expanded quarters in the Sawtooth Club. Louie was his own cook, and hired waitresses. The dining room sat 40 people, but the bar was soon expanded to the dining room. Two and one-half years later Louie's moved to a building which had been the first church in Ketchum. In the ensuing years it had also served as an espresso house and beer garden. After 35 wonderful years of business in the Ketchum-Sun Valley area Louie and his wife Margaret moved to Boise to be with their children and grandchildren. The people and the memories of the Ketchum restaurant have made such a positive impact on Louie and his family, but also touched the lives of many old employees and patrons as well. As the reputation for quality pizzas and Italian food grew Louie has always worked hard to give you, the customer, the best value for your dollar. Always experimenting with new recipes and using the freshest ingredients possible is the commitment Louie's is always giving to quality at a fair price.

We go to this restaurant a lot. You often see a lot of the same faces and you can tell that they treat their employees well and have a great reputation. Great food and a very clean and beautiful setting. We have never had anything there that wasn't wonderful!

On our way to the Boise airport, we were searching for a good Italian restaurant to satisfy our ravenous appetites. This restaurant offers pleasant atmosphere, friendly service, and exceptional food. The pizzas, calzones, and lasagna were tasty and filling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to lovers of good Italian cuisine!

This place relocated from downtown Boise to Meridian when a chain Italian restaurant moved in next door. I ate there years ago a few times and thought it was pretty good and had a nice atmosphere. The newer location is very tacky Italiano in its decor. Think plastic grapes, huge outdoor fountain in the middle of the dining area and faux plaster. It is less than 6 or 7 years old and looks really dated. The staff is nice and friendly. The prices are decent. Their wine prices are some of the best I have seen in the valley. The food is mediocre at best. Nothing seems very fresh or particularly homemade. If you want to spend a little more and have a fabulous meal, drive out to Gino's. You will be impressed!

Prompt reservations, great food, great atmosphere and moderate prices bring me back time and time again. The private room is ideal for group luncheons or dinners too. We eat here probably 3 - 4 times per year and have never had even a mediocre experience in 20 years.

We dine here as a family frequently. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Everything I have eaten there, I have liked. You get a lot of food for the money and almost always go home with leftovers. I love the dinner salads and endless supply of garlic bread.

Service has always been good, and the kids meals are a great deal! They have certain menu items on special several nights of the week that are a great value! Two of my favorite dishes are their fettuccine dishes. The Chicken Artichoke Fettuccine and the Chicken Gorgonzola Fettuccine, both are AMAZING!

If you sign up through their website for the "VIP Club" you will get e-mail offers and special discounts throughout the year. They do not bombard you with e-mails, but the ones they send you are well worth it!
