This is one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms are comfortable and the view is spectacular. This is such a great place to relax. I love the lounge chairs and the rocking chairs on the dock. My only complaint is the high prices in the retaurants. The food was good just really overpriced. I will certainly go back to the hotel, but I will eat someplace else.

We just got home from a weeked at Shore Lodge, somewhere I've stayed off and on for over 30 years. The weekend was wonderful, the food "fine", and the room perfectly acceptable, but for the money, we did not get the exceptional experience we had hoped for.

The decor is half "lodge" half English Manor. I wish they would lose the English part and just be a great Idaho lodge like it should be. The rooms are fine, but you pay A LOT for a lake view room and then the wide wooden top of the deck rail completely blocks the view if you want to sit on the deck you pay handsomely for. The other thing was that I dropped something under the dresser and found a land mine of uncleaned stuff under there.

We had breakfast 3 times and lunch twice at the outdoor restaurant. The food was fine, though nothing exeptional. The real issue is the lack of staff. My goodness, it's Labor Day weekend. Get some help in there.

All in all a great weekend. That view counters any negatives and I was so happy to be back in my home state of Idaho. I just wish this hotel would stop being a diamond in the rough and go for diamond.

Hi Rebecca-

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to share your experience with us! Labor Day weekend is exceptionally busy around here so we are sorry to hear about the few downfalls, but want to assure you that we’re doing our best to make any necessary adjustments. You may be happy to hear that we have indeed begun updating our guestrooms. The curtains and art have been replaced in about 20% of the rooms so far and we hope you’ll come back and check out the changes and enjoy the scenery again soon.

Thanks again,
Dan Scott

Beautifully remodeled, this property is right on the water. Gorgeous views, friendly staff. And updated facilities make this a great excuse to stop by for a creative dinner on the water. The spa looks inviting and we will eventually enjoy it too.

We did not stay at the lodge but had 2 dinners on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Payette Lake. The setting is lovely and food is very good. We had a variety of appetizers and entrees: ahi poke, grilled artichoke, steamed clams, fried chicken, lobster cobb salad, baby iceberg wedge salad, elk meatloaf, and fish and chips. The service was good and the quality of food is good. Our only complaint is the inconsistency of the portion sizes. The poke was a tiny portion and did not come with any crackers or toast points and the steamed clams were a very small portion as well. The lobster cobb salad was really large and the fried chicken dinner was large also. The dinners were all very good but the elk meatloaf was just OK. The fish and chips are the best we've ever had and we've eaten lots of fish and chips!
The setting can't be beat and it's a nice end to a day of boating on the lake to pull up to their dock and enjoy a meal on the patio.

We checked in on a Sunday during summer high season. Arrived 20 mins before check-in time, and the lobby was deserted. After 10 minutes, one of the parking valets went to find a desk clerk, who told us our room wouldn't be ready by the 4pm check-in. We went to find a beverage, though the cafe servers were busy talking amongst themselves and weren't any help to get us a drink. The bartender was busy unloading into a cooler and though looked up to see us, ignored us for another 10 minutes, until someone he knew approached the bar. We ordered a mixed drink and a coke, and were charged over $12. There was no place to sit outside, as many families who had checked out earlier moved all their belongings to the deck and beach so they could stay the rest of the day. Returned to the front desk at 4:10pm and waited another half an hour for our room. Found that someone had left a dog unattended in the next room who howled non-stop for 45 minutes. I went to the desk to tell someone, and the desk clerk wasn't much interested. The people next door returned to their room after another 40 minutes, and the howling stopped. We did not find any value in the high price, and will not stay there again.

This was our first trip to McCall, Idaho but have visited Priest Lake and Sun Valley prior. We stayed for a week in August and had sunny, warm weather the entire visit. We rented 2 suites to handle our family of 2 adults and 3 kids and had more than enough room. Upon our arrival (after an 8 hour drive from Seattle), we were offered a glass of wine while checking in which was nice touch. We found the rooms to be spacious and very clean. There were a lot of other families staying at the resort and after the 1st hour, felt comfortable letting the kids explore on their own. The lake water was refreshing and not too cold and the kids loved the water trampoline. We also used the pool, rented the pontoon boat to go tubing, fished off the dock and caught several trout, went bike riding and hiking. The atmosphere was laid back with most people in shorts and flip flops. The food portions were enormous and the food was very good. We were able to order food and drinks at the pool. Every night they had smores at the fire pit outside. The staff (mainly college kids) were super friendly and did their best to help us out whenever we needed anything. I would definitely go back! The only critical thing I would say I would mention was the lack of beach chairs. Almost every day, people would put their towels on the chairs by the early morning to "save" their chairs for the day. Either the hotel should buy more chairs, only allow adults to have chairs or kick people out of their chairs who don't use them. Other than that - great for families!

Drawn to Shore Lodge by the Wooden Boats Exhibition, we discovered not only a beautiful array of restored boats, but a beautiful lodge on the shores of the Payette Lake. Just 2 hours north of Boise on the scenic highway 55, this lodge has all you could want for a weekend getaway, family reunion, or corporate retreat. Built in 1948 of Log Pole Pine and other local woods, it has recently undergone some invigoration and ambiance. Facing the broad expanse of Payette Lake with tree-shrouded mountains in the background, you couldn't hope for more a more beautiful setting. There are meeting rooms, restaurants, and a lovely bar made of hand-hewn logs. In fact, much of the interior restoration retained the original wood. Ask for a room high enough to look beyond the marina and children's play beach. Golf, water sports, and boat rentals cost extra, but the rooms are lovely and roomy. The lodge is open all year and has recently opened a 3-suite cottage for family reunions. Great rafting along the Payette river is nearby. Caution: Hwy 55 can be congested on weekends as Boise residents head north for this quaint, touristy town of McCall.

Room Tip: Highest floor overlooking lake have best view of lake and mountains. Front rooms face a heavily tra...
